there are protested checks for large
amounts, which will bring the total in

meet this heavy indebtedness the re

$2000 in cash.
Every singlo asset upon which the
order has a claim will have to be fought
bitterly in the courts before it can be
realized upon. The creditors may get
three cents on the dollar. There are
now death certificates in the sum of
$495,207 ; old age claims amounting to
$279,109, and miscellaneous claims which
will reach $439.
Persons who suffer from Indigestion
can not' expect to live long, because they
cannot eat the food required to nourish
the body and the products of the undi
gested foods they do eat poison the
blood. It is important to cure indiges
tion as soon as possible, and the best
method of doing this is to use the prepa
ration known as Kodol Dyspepsia Cure.
It digests what you eat and restores all
the digestive organs to perfect health.

Southern California,
Notable among the pleasures afforded
by the Shasta Route is the winter trip
to Southern California and Arizona.
Renewed acquaintance with this section
will ever develop fresh points of interest
added sources of enjoyment, under its
sunny skies, in the variety of its indus

its numberless resorts of mountain,
shore, valley and plain. '
The two daily Shasta trains from
Portland to California have been re

pattern of standard and tourist sleeping

continue in effect.

New York, Jan. 24. Clark Bell,
president of the Medical and Legal Aid
Society, has announced that his society
has determined to take up the Maybrick
case at once, and that the chances are
now more favorable than ever for the
pardon or acquittal, after fair trial, of
the American woman under sentence of
life imprisonment in England, charged
with murdering her husband by poison
ing. The taking up of the case is due to the
attitude which the new king of England
is known to have assumed toward Mre.
Maybrick. It is said that he has made
it no secret that he favors her pardon.
In case all appeals to the king and the
new Home Secretary fail, it is under
stood that the Medical and Legal Aid
Society will aBk M!bs Clara Barton, of
the Red Cross Society, to make a person
al appeal to the king.
