Yesterday Voted to Discontinue the
Northern Christain Advocate, and All
Not on Paying Basis Will Meet Same
fate.
Chicago, May 11. By refusing to con
tinue the publication of the Northern
Christian Advocate at Syracuse, until
the four conferences agreed to furnieti
bonds indemnifying the Methodist Book
Concern against loss in its operation,
the committee of tho Methodist Episco
pal General Conference on book concern

have been run at a loss during the past

The Northern Christian Advocate was

circles say that the Turkish Minister in
Washington, All Ferrouh Bey, has given

Ahmed Pasha has left Constantinople.
He Is going to the United States with
proposals, the object of which is the
settlement of the claims in an indirect
manner. In the event of the lailure of
Ahmed's proposals, the United States
government will resume negotiations
