A meat romantic courtship culmin
ated in a happy inariiajje, at the Marion
county court house, on Tuesday, after a

few couples receiving marriago licenses
there. The marriage was that of Miss
Ama Walker, one of the equestriennes
of the Walter L. Main circus, to Captain
Hugh Thoniason, of the Rough Rider
brigade attached to the same show.
The story of this happy young couple
is a most romantic one. Hugh Thoma
eon and Ama Walker were not always
c'kcub performers. They were both
born and raised in a beautiful Southern
village, and bscame sweethearts. In
some way a lover's quarrel over some
trifling matter caused a separation, and
the young man strayed away from his
refined and respectable home, and, when
the Cuban insuirection broke out in
1895, he was one of the first American
adventurers to tender his servicee to the
Cuban leader m their fight for liberty
After a time his sweetheart learned

of mourning, became the bride of an

About a year ago she secured
divorce from her husband, resuming he
maiden name, and joined Mr. Main
big shows as an equestrienne.
A few weeks ago a company of rougl
riders joined the uircue, and in the tall
handsome captain of the company, Misi
Walker was surprised to recognize the
lover of her earlier years whom she had
mourned as dead. Love was not dead
for. through all the bloody ecenes of the
campaigns of the Cuban war, Captain
TUomasoii'a heart had been with his
sweetheart, and the two young people
settled their earlier differences, and
agreed to become husband and wife
which resolution. thev carried into tiled

Salem, Or., on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1601).
