Oae week ? 15 One month 50 Oae year 6 00 FBI DAY JULY 28. 18f9 AMERICA'S CHOPS OF 1S90. The outlook for wheat and corn in the United State3 is better, on the whole, than was expected a few weeks ago, says the Globe-Democrat. Translated into quantity, the most recent report of the department Of agriculture indicates a yield of about iGO,000,000 bushels of wheat and of 2,121,000,000 bushels of corn. The Ggures for wheat agree with the estimates of most of the authorities, but those here cited for com, and which arc given on the basis of the computation made by the statistician of the New York Produce Exchange, are somewhat above those arrived at by other experts. The lowest esti mate, however, does not bring the corn crop below the 2,000,000,000 line. All this is highly encouraging to American farmers. The wheal yield, as here given, lias never been ex ceeded in the United States except in 1891, when it was 012,000,000 bushels, and in 1898, when it was 075,000,000. The corn crop has gone above the 2,000,000,000 line in 1889, 1891, 1895 and 1890. The corn yield in all tlios;! years excited surprise. This year's crop ma' go up to the figures of any of those years except 189G, when the reduc tion was 2,383,875,105, as figured by the department of agriculture after the crop was gathered. The most optimistic estimates thus far made do not indicate a crop in 1899 quite up to the 189C mnrk, but it may break the,, record for all the other years. Foreign crop reports, as just out lined by the department of agri culture in Washington, make the situation peculiar! encouraging to the American farmer. Russia is the chief rival of the Unite.1 Slates among Europe's exporters of wheat. Russia's wheat crop of 1899 will be from 85,000,000 to 120,000,000 is ir itioiiT For an Rilltor to Ilecntnmeiiil Medicine? I'atcnt From Svlvan Vallev News. Brevrad, N. C. It may be a question whether the editor of a newspaper has the right to publicly recommend any of the various proprietary medicines which flood the market, yet as a oreventive of euflerinp we feel it n duty to say a good word for Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera .nnd Diar rhoea Remedy. We have known and used this medicine in our family tor twenty years and haye always found it reliable. In many cases a dose of this remedy would save hours of Eufierinp while a phyeician is awaited. We do not believe in depending implicitly on any medicine for a enre, but we do believe that if a bottle of Chamberlain's Diarrhoea Remedy wae kept on hand and administered at the inception of an attack, much suffering might be avoided and in very many cases the presence of a physician would not be rtqnired. At least this has been our experience during the past twenty years. For sale by Blakeley & Houghton, Druggists. A Beautiful Skin. ! New ideas in Wall Puper here.
