Bobbed the Grave. .
A startling incident, of which Mr.
John Oliver of Philadelphia, vraa the
subject, is narrated by him aa follows:
"I was in a moat dreadful condition. My

and sides, no appetite gradually grow
ing weaker day by day. Three physi

F. S. Blythe, of the Hood River
Glacier, came up from that place on the
boat yesterday.
Hugh Hagan, who has been attending
Mt. Angel college, returned home on
the boat last night.
Miss Rose Ricks came up from Bonne
ville last evening and spent today with
Mrs. Geisendorffer.
Mrs. W. A. Gilliam and family moved
today to Cascade Locks, where Mr.
Gilliam is employed.
Mrs. M. A. Harst, who has been visit
ing friends at Wapinitia, returned to
her home in Salem today.
Mrs. E. F. Lucas, who has been visit
ing her son, J. P. Lucas, returned to ber
borne in Monmouth today.
Dr. Loomis, U. S. timber inspector,
spent yesterday in The Dalle9 and left
this morniog for Portland.
Bliss Sallie Williams, of Quincey, 111.,
who has been visiting Mrs. Lord, left
today for a trip to Portland.
Mrs. D. L. Cates and children re
turned to Cascade today, after a visit
with her parents in this city.
Mrs. H. A. Hogue, of Portland, come
up from that place last night and will
be the guest of Mrs. S. L. Brooks for a
few days.
F. H. Drews has returned from his
mining clxirus out from Vancouver. To
morrow he will tell Chronicle readers
something concerning mining in that
district.

Chapman and wife passed through the
