General Otis is Organizing Three
Regiments From Volunteers, Who
Wish to Remain.
Washington, June J 5. General Otia
cabled today the following:
''Manila, Jane 15. Adjutant-General
Washington : The success of Lawton's
troops in Cavite province was greater
than reported yesterday. The enemy
numbered over 4000. The killed,
wounded and captured are more .than
one-third, and the remainder are much
scattered, having retreated south to
loans, their arsenal. Of five pieces of
artillery, three werecaptured. The navy
aided greatly on the ehore of the bay,
I landing forces occasionally. The in
habitants iu that country rejoice at the
deliverance and welcome with enthusi
astic demonstrations the arrival of our
troops."
The war department bulletins the fol
lowing :
"Manila, Jane 15. Adjutant-General,
Washington: A prominent Filipino,
friendly to the Americans, has been
assassinated at Cebu. The inhabitants
of that locality are urgently requesting
American protection in stronger force.
Have sent a battalion of Tennesseeans
and two guns from Ilo Ilo which insures
peace. Hugbes is now in charge of
affairs in that section. OTIS."
Imus Taken.
Manila, Jane 15, 5:50 p. m. Captain
Cable, of General Wheaton's staff, with
three companies of the Twenty-first regi
ment, reconnoitered in the direction of
Imue. The rebels, who were apparently
expecting an attack,' retired, leaving be
hind them twenty Spanish prisoners,
who joined the Americans. The rebels
have probably gone to the mountains
along the lake. According to the native
stories, they carried 100 dead and 300
wounded through Bacoor after the re
cent battle.
The natives are now flocking into Ba
coor, and it is probable there are many
soldiers in plain clothes anions them.
The whole sectijn is practically with
out food, and General Otis bas ordered
the distribution of rice and beef to the
inhabitants. -
Otis Organizing Regiments..
Washington, Jane 15. Pursuing a
policy determined upon some months
ago, General Otis is organizing three
regiments in the Philippiues composed
of officers and men of the state volunteers
who desire to remain in the service. The
army bill authorized this kind of enlist
ment in the Philippines. General Otis
1 and the volanteer officers in the Philip
pines have been consulting to see bow
many men will enlist.
The number bas not been very large,
as there seems to be a desire on the part
of the volunteers to retnrn to the United
States-with their organizations.

IT. MERITS ATTENTION
A New Preparation Which Cures Dys
pepsia and Stomach
Trouble.
Remarkable Curative Properties.
A new remedy, which may revolution
ize the treatment of stomach troubles,
has recently been placed before the
public and -bears the endorsement of
many leading physicians and scientific
men.
The remedy is not a wonderful secret
discovery, nor a patent medicine, neither
is it claimed to cure anything except in
digestion and stomach troubles, with
which nine-tenths of our nation are
afflicted.
The remedy is in the form of pleasant
tasting tablets or lozengers containing
vegetable and fruit essences, pore aseptic
pepsin (free from animal impurities')
bismuth and Golden Seal ; they are all
sold by druggists generally under the
name of Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets.
Many interesting -experiments made
with these tablets show that they pos
sess remarkable digestive powers, one
grain of the active principle being suffi
cient to thoroughly digest 3,000 times its
own weight of lean meat, eggs, oatmeal
or - similar wholesome foods; these
tablets do not act on the bowels like
after-dinner pills, nor in fact do they
act upon any particular organ, bat the
manner In wich they, cure all forms of
indigestion is this: They act entirely
upon the food eaten, digesting it com
pletely, nourishing every tissue and
nerve in the body; they Eimply perform
the work of digestion, thus giving the
weak stomach rest and assistance suffi
cient to enable it to recover its normal
strength. This is the reason so many
pretended cures have signally failed ;
they do not furnish the digestive power
which is the one thing above all others
that the stomach of the dyspeptic lacks,
and unless that lack is supplied, it is
waste of time to attempt to restore the
enfeebled stomach by means of "tocics,"
'stomach bitters'' and "pills" no per
manent good can result from their use.
If the etomach can be rested and as
sisted in the work of digestion it will
very soon recover; this is the secret and
the whole secret of the remarkable suc
cess of Smart's Dyspepsia Tablets, a
remedy practically unknown a year ago
and now the most popular, widely nsed
dyspepsia remedy, everywhere a success
secured almost entirely on its merits, as
it has never been extensively advertised.
Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets are now
sold by diuggists everywhere at 50 cts.
per package ; if he hasn't them in Btock
he will order them for you from bis
wholesale house. They are made- by
the F. A. Stuart Co., chemists, Mar
shall, Mich., who will be pleased to send
information and testimonials from every
state in tbe union.
