THE EXCELLENCE OF SYRUP OF FIGS
is due not only to the originality and
simplicity of the combination, but also
J o the care and skill with which it is
asaannfactured by scientific processes
Inown to the California Fio Sybup
Co. only, and we wish to impress upon
ail the importance oi purchasing the
true' and original remedy. As the
genuine Syrup of Figs is manufactured
y the California Fig Sruup Co.
only, a knowledge of that . fact will
assist one in avoiding1 the worthless
imitations manufactured by other pab
ties. The high standing of the Caxi
Socnia Fii-Sykup Co. with the medi
cal profession, and the satisfaction
which the genuine Syrup of Figs has
given to millions of families, makes
the name of the Company a guaranty
of the excellence of its remedy. It is
iar in advanca of all other laxatives,
as it acts on the kidneys, liver and

Minnesota's Ancient Rocks.
Prof. Winchell; of Minneapolis, con
aiders the greenstone of Minnesota the
eldest known rock, and as representing
he original crust of the earth. The low
er series of it is purely igneous, the
upper, or ''clastic,"" series consists of
greenstone, more silicious rocks and
scnglomeratcs, more or less altered by
neat. Hitherto it has been supposed
that the Laurentian granite and ig
neous rocks of Canada were the oldest
rocks. The silica and potash, of the
upper greenstones of Minnesota be
speak, he thinks, a primeval alkaline
ocean with silica in solution. From
this ocean comes the great stock of the
world's potash in the Archaean rocks.
