Stanley Brewster, a single man, aoout tnirty years ot age, was killed last evening about a mile northeast . of Eugene, while hauling wood. He . left home in the afternoon to get a load of -wood, and when night came and he did not return a searching party was sent out. He was found in the woods nnder the left front wheel of his wagon. Appearances indicate that he had been thrown from his load of wood while crossing a rut, and pitched headforemost between the Bingletree and the horse on the left side. He was caught under the wheel, and -when found about midnight, was lying face down with the wheel of the loaded wagon resting on his back. He bad held to the linea, which were bound under him, preventing the horees from going further, and being unable to back the wagon out of the rut they had stood there for seven or eight hours. . Coroner Cheshire went to the scene of the acci dent, but iid not consider an inquest necessary. He says death must have been almost instantaneous. Are . You Interested? Tbe O. R. & N. Spain continues to furnish our prin cipal amusements, for at the theaters one hears - Spanish p'.ays, the Basque ball p'.ayers, the "pplotaris," continue to attract great crowds, and now we are about to have a season of bull fight- ! ing with Manzantind as the "espada principal," accompanied by a first-class troupe- of performers. Cut even more sensational will be tha advent of "the lady bull fighters," now on their way from Spain to this land cf iwinter sun shine. "Las ta.reras," or the femin-inefight-ers of bulls, will be greeted with en thusiasm, for they will be a distinct novelty, and are bound t o make an im pression on the susceptibl-e- masculine public. And-why not lady bull fighters as well as the "new woman of north ern and colder lands' The girl who en ters the arena to confront the "toro bravo," the. fierce bull pawing the sand, and, head down, awaiting his human foe, must have "sand" herself, and one cart f arTcy how convenient it would be to marry one oi them, and so have al ways a valiant enemy cf burglars in. the house. And the wife of your bosom, arrayed in a. wrapper Hud carrying her trusty savordi in her land, would descend to the lower floor .o give the burglar an "estocada" in the most classic and approved form!
