This is the same tax as was levied last year. While alighting from the passenger train last night Elmer Jones fell and sustained a double fracture of his right arm. Dr. ilollieter was called and re lieved the patients suffering and he is renting easy today. About a week ago near John's mill, Ralph Long had the misfortune to chop off one of bis biz toes. He was brought to town today and sought the services of Dr. Hollieter, who is treating the wound, which is quite a bad one. La Grande Chronicle. , The Dalles Club MinatrelB repeated their performance last night to about two hundred people arid were warmly received. There wee a tew slight changes from the previous evening but practically the same show was given as on the first night. Everything ran somewhat smoother than on the open ing night as the boys were more familiar with their turns. They were exceeding ly good and merited all the patronage bestowed upon them. ' Lord is pushing the graft providing for the purchase of ten acres of stumps, near Salem, for a location of the mute school. The consideration is six thousand dol lars, while the property is only esti mated to be worth about three hundred. The house voted $200 to procure more stamps. The vote on Wheeler county was reconsidered by the house and the measure was passed. The bill for the sugar beet bounty was reconsidered and passed the house, twenty-one voting aye. "' .
