CATARRH OF
THE STOMACH
A Pleasaat, Simple but Safe and Effec
tual Cure For It.
Catarrh of the stomach has long been
considered te next thing to incurable.
The usual symptoms are a full or bloat
ing sensation after eating, accompanied
sometimes with sour or watery risings', a
formation of gases, causing pressure on
the heart and lungs and difficult breath
ing, headaches, fickle appetite, nervous
ness and a general played out, languid
feeling. " .
There is often a foul taste in the
moutb, coated tongue and if the interior
of the stomach could be seen it would
show a slimy, inflamed condition.
The cure for this common and ob
stinate trouble is found in a treatment
which cauees the food to be readily,
or thoroughly digested before it has
time to ferment and irritate the delicate
surface of the stomach. To secdre a
prompt and healthy digestion is the one
necessary thing to do and when normal
digestion is secured the catarrahal con
dition will have disappeared. '
According to Dr. Harlaneon the safest
and best treatment is to use after each
meal a tablet composed oi Diastase,
Aseptic Pepsin, a little Nnx, Gclden
Seal and fruit acids. These tablets can
now be found at all drug stores under
the name of Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets,
and not being a patent medicine can be
used with perfect safety and assurance
that healthly appetite and thorough di
gestion will follow their regular use
alter meals.
Mr. N. I.'.Booher, of 2710 Dearborn St.,
Uhicago, ill., writes: "(Jattarb is a
local condition resulting from a neglected
cold in the bead, whereby the' lining
membrance of the nose becomes in
flamed and the poisonous discharge
therefrom paeEing backward into the
throat reaches the stomach, thus pro
ducing catarrah of the stomash. Medi
cal authorities prescribed for me for j
three years for catarrah of stomach
without cure, but today I atn ' the
happiest of men after using only one
box of Stuart's Dyspepsia' Tablets. I
cannot find appropriate words to ex
press my good - feeling. I have found
flesh, appetite and sound rest from their
use"
Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets is the
safest preparation as well as the very
simplest and most convenient remedy
for any form of indigestion, catarrah of
stomach, billiousness, sour stomach,
heartburn and bloating after meals.
Send for little book, mailed free on
stomach troubles, by addressing Stuart
Co., Marshall. Mich.' . The tablets can
be found at all drug stores';
Important Wool Tariff Decision..
Boston, Jan. 11 The United States
court of appeals today banded down a
decision to the effect that the- tariff act
of July 24, 1897, in relation to the entry
of wools, did not go into effect until 4:06
o'clock that day, the time the act was
signed by the president.' The decision
was given in the action brought by the
wool house of Stoddard, Haserick,
Richards It Co., of the city, who, in
1897, imported 807 bales of wool, the
entry having been made before the close
of the custom bouse at four o'clock on
July 2 of that year. Thia was con
sidered a test case, and the decision in
volves hundreds of thousands of dollars
paid on duties to the tfnlted States by
importers all over the country.

Legal Equality of Wives.
Baltimore, Md., Jan. 12.: Maryland's
married women are invested with ad
ditional right under a new law which
went into effect today. "While it places
a wife more upon an equality with, her
husband, it imposes upon her greater
responsibilities. She is given absolute
control over the disposition of her own
property. In the case of a married
woman who is under 13 years of age,
however, the husband ha" to approye
of the deed to make it valid, A- wife
has the power to convey property by
deed to ber husband and she is also
I given power to make contracts. She
can be sued separately ; nor is her hus
band liable for anyact committed by his
wife, without his participation.' If a
wife, outside of her husband's presence,
utters slanderous words against another
married woman, the woman slandered
may sue the other, and the husbands
are not responsible. The new law
practically places husband and wife on
mi cvjuai legal juuung, .except mat one
provision gives the husband dower rigt ts
in her real property.

How to Prevent Pneam onla.
You are perhaps aware that pneu
monia always results from a cold or from
an attack of La Grippe. . . During the
epidemic of La Grippe a few years ago
when so many cases resulted in pneu
monia, it was observed that the attack
was never followed by that disease when
Chamberlain's Cough Remedy was used.
It counteracts any tendency of a cold or
La Grippe to result in that dangerous
disease. It is the best remedy in 'the
