" handsomely engraved, and showing the

Mrs. Crossen responded in a brief bnt

All being in readiness, the line of march

Flowers and palms were used with good

the utmost.
In the midst of the feast the worthy
matron called it a birthday party, and
placed an immense cake with a star of

Mrs. Myers, begging her to cut the

"Very many complimentary remarks
"have been passed in regard to the answe

by Mrs. Myers. It was said to be one of
the most eloquent and best delivered

the following quotation :

CATARRH OF
THE STOMACH
A Pleasant, Simple but Safe and Effec
tual Cure For It.
Catarrh of the stomach has long been
considered te next thing to incurable.
The usual symptoms are a full or bloat-
ng sensation after eating, accompanied
sometimes with sour or watery risings, a
formation of gases, causing pressure on
the heart and lungs and difficult breath-
ng, headaches, fickle appetite, nervous
ness and a general played out, languid
feeling.
There is often a foul taste in ' the
mouth, coated tongue and if the interior
f the stomach could be seen it would
how a slimy, inflamed condition.
The cure for this common and ob
stinate trouble is found in a treatment
which causes tte food to be readily,
thoroughly digested before it has
time to ferment and irritate the delicate
surface of the stomach. To secure a
prompt and healthy digestion is the one
necessary thing to do and when normal
digestion is secured the catarrahal con
dition will have disappeared.
According to Dr. Harlanson the safest
and best treatment is to use after each
meal a tablet composed of Diastase,
Aseptic PepBin, a little Nux, Gclden
Seal and fruit acids. These tablets can
now be found at all drug stores under
the name of Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablet?,
and not being a patent medicine can be
used with perfect safety and assurance
that healthly appetite and thorough di
gestion will follow their regular use
alter meals.
Mr. N. I. Booher, of 2710 Dearborn st
unicago, in., writes: "Uattarti is a
local condition resulting from a neglecleJ
cold in the head, whereby the limns
membrance of the nose becomes in
flamed and the poisonous discharge
therefrom passing backward into the
throat reaches the etomach, thus pro
ducing catarrah of the stomach. Medi
cal authorities prescribed for me for
three years for catarrah of stomach
without cure, but today I am the
happiest of men after using only one
box of Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets. I
cannot find aopropriate words to ex
press my good feeling. I have found
flesh, appetite and sound rest from their
use "
Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets is the
safest preparation as well as the very
simplest and most convenient remedy
for any form of indigestion, catarrah of
stomach, billiousness, sour stomach,
heartburn and bloatfng after meals.
Send for little book, mailed free on
stomach troubles, by addressing Stuart
Co., Marshall, Mich. The tablets can
be found at all drug stores.
O. D. Taylor Found "Not Gnllty.
A Saginaw, Mich., paper has an ex
tended article concerning a case which
has just been tried in the court there, in
which O. D. Taylor, of this city, was de
fendant. On account of its length it is
impossible to give in full the statement
of the judge to the jury, which no doubt
would have been inteiesting to our read
ers : The paper says in part :
The case of the People vs. O. D. Tay
lor in which Joseph Seemann was com
plainant, was brought to a close about
2 :30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. whn
Judge Wilber directed a verdict of "not
guilty." This case was taken np Tues
day afternoon and proved as short as
the people had promised it would be.
There were but two questions involved
and the facts established by the testi
mony presented few contradictions. The
law points were argued yesterday morn
ing and the whole case is concisely and
accurately summed up in the statement
made by Judge Wilber, in which be
gives his reasons for directing a verdict.
In closing the jndge said :
"It seems beyond all controversy that
a jury would not be justified as a matter
of law in finding that Mr. Taylor in
tended to defraud him by making that
representation ; and it seems equally
clear that Mr. Seemann could not have
been defrauded by this representation ;
and for these reasons I direct you to
render a verdict of not guilty. The
clerk will receive the verdict."
Tbe result of this case was very gratify
ing to Mr. Taylor and bis attorneys and
to the personal friends, several of whom
were in the court room.

Row to Prevent Pneumonia.
You are perhaps aware that pneu
monia always results from a cold or from
an attack of La Grippe. Daring the
epidemic of La Grippe a few years ago
when so many cases resulted in pneu
monia, it was observed that the attack
was never followed by that disease when
Chamberlain's Cough Remedy was used.
It counteracts any tendency of a cold or
La Grippe to result in that dangerous
disease. It is the best remedy in the
world for bad colds and La Grippe.
