,1EE EXCELLENCE OF SYEUP OF FIGS
Ss due not only to the originality and
simplicity of the combination, but also
to the care and skill with which it ia

the importance of purchasing the
;true and original remedy. As the

assist one in avoiding the worthless
imitations manufactured by other pa
ties. The high standing of the CALI

which the genuine Syrup of Figs has
given to millions of families, makes
the name of the Company a gnaranty

TWO VESSELS
MAY BE RAISED
Believed the Maine and Colon May Yet
Be Saved.
New York, Dec. 16. A dispatch to
the Tribune from Washington says:
The navy department has not aban
doned the hope of rescuing the Maine
from Havana harbor and bringing the
wreck back to thia country for rehabili
tation, nor doea it seem likely, from the
interest taken by responsible wrecking
experts, that the Cbrietobal Colon wil1
be permitted to pound to pieces on the
shore west of Santiago. The board of con
struction baa under consideration a for
mal proposition for the salvage of both
thebe vessels, and their aelivery et New
York or such other port in the United
States as the government might select,
but no company will be allowed to be
gin operations on the vessel nntil a com
parison will be made between the offers
from several trustworthy concerns.
The Swedish Company, which ia said
to be the most capable end experienced
in the world, now has experts at work
on the Colon, making an investigation
into the4 difficulties involved in her
salvage. Divers and engineers have
been brought trom Europe especially for
thia purpose, and after satisfying them
selves of the Colon's condition and the
expense that must be incurred in float
iug her, they will go to Havana and
examine the Maine.
