TEE EXCELLENCE OF SYRUP OF FIGS
is due not only to the originality and
simplicity of the combination, but also
to the care and skill with which It is
manufactured by scientific processes
known to the California Fia Syrup
Co. only, and we wish to impress upon
11 the importance of purchasing- the
true and original remedy. As the
genuine Syrup of Fig's is manufactured
by the California Fig Strtjf Co.

ssist one in avoiding- the worthless
imitations manufactured by other pa
ties. The high standing of the Cali

cal profession, and the satisfaction
which the genuine Syrup of Figs has
given to millions of families, makes
he name of the Company a guaranty

Last vear a girl who spent her sum
mer in the country carried back in her
trunk the most f ragTant, the most
crispy cool of sofa pillows.
All winter long she kept the secret
of its makeup. The Egyptian embalm
ing process was not more jealously
gmarded.
A week ago she revealed it. It s a
clover pillow," she said. "I'll tell you
now, because clover is coming and you
girls will all want to make one."
This is her recipe:
Arm yourself with a broad brimmed
hat and a pair of shears and take
along a couple of clean, empty sacks.
Cut off the finest sprays of clover
bloom and with these mix about half
as many leaves. Avoid hard stems
and sticks. Fill your sacks.
When j"Our sack is tied and full put
it on the grass where the sun can best
shine upon it. You will find by the
time the second bag is stuffed the con
tents of the first one will h.ave wilted
to one-half size. The bag will need
refilling.
When the sacks are brought home
spread a clean sheet under a sunny win
dow and on this empty your treasure
Spread the blossoms out evenly ant"
cover with a second sheet. Let then
remain there for several days. Shak
them up and respread them severa.
times each day until the leaves crackle
when pushed between tlie fingers. They
will then be ready for the pillow.
An undercasing is, of course, a ne
cessity. Cheesecloth makes an excel
lent one for a clover cushion. Chicago
