P. E. Butler, of pack-train No. 3,
writinii from Sandiago, i)e Cuba, on
July 23d, says: "We all had diarrhoea
in more or lees violent form, and when
we landed we had no time to see a
doctor, for it waa a case of rush and rush
night and day to keep the troops sup
plied with ammunition and ration?, but
thanks to Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera
and Diarrhoea Remedy, we were able to
keep at work and keep our health; in
fact, I sincerely believe that at one
critical time this medicine was the in
direct eaviour of our army, for if the
packers had been unable to work there
would have been no way of petting sup
plies to the front. There were no roads
that a wagon train could uee. My com
rad and myself bad the good fortune to
lay in a supply of this medicine for out
pack-train before we left Tampa, and I
know in four cases it absolutely saved
life."

Chaplain C. C. flQeCabe,
BISHOP IN THE M. E. CHURCH,
In answer to an nrgent call by the church in
this city, will deliver his famous lecture on the
"Blight Si of Life in Llg Prison."
AT THE
Methodist Church, Sept. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
This continues to be one of the most noted lectures of the day. It is always
given in the interests of the church, and has made for it more than $150,000.
The price of this lectnre in all Eastern cities is $1.00, bat we have reduced the
price to 50 cents, to give all an opportunity to hear it, especially accomodating
those of neighboring towns and counties.
Bishop McCabe sees a bright side in every thing. This lecture is instructive,
entertaining and inspiring. It was Chaplain McCabe that tore np bis shirt to make
a flag with which to celebrate the 4th of July in Li bby Prison. His singing has
inspired many a soul to deeds of heriosm and many a fainting heart to renewed
courage.

This Institution is pleasantly situated near
the Columbia on the line of the Union Pacific;
thence it is easy of excess for all those who de
sire to secure a comfortable home and a pro
gressive seat of learning for their daughters

of the most healthy on the Pacific slope, this
portion of Oregon being proverbial for its pure

The Academy is incorporated and authorized by
the State to confer Academic honors.
