Th3 Dalles Daily Chrciilels. THE DALLES, OREGON fIJ J, 4 TH2 EXCELLENCE GF SYEUP CF FIGS is due not only to the originality and simplicity of the combination, but also to the care and skill with which it is manufactured by scientific processes known to the California Fig Svbup Co. only, and we wish to impress upon oil the importance of purchasing the true and original remedy. It is far ia advance of all other laxatives, as it acts on the kidneys, liver and bowels without irritating- or weaken ing' them, and it does not gripe nor nauseate. About one month ago my child, which ia fifteen months old, had an attack of diarrhoea accompanied by vomiting. 1 gave it such remedies as are usually given ia such cases, but as nothing gave relief, we sent for a physician and it was nn ler his care for a week. At this time the child had been sick for about ten d.iys and was having about twenty-five operations of the bowels every twelve hours, and we were convinced that un less it soon obtained relief it would not live. Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy was recommended, and I decided to try it. I soon noticed a change for the better; by Hh continued nee a complete cure was brought about and it is now perfectly healthy. C. JL. Bogge, iSturuptown, Gilmer Co., W. Va. The delinqent taxes of Wasco county, as shown on the rolls now in the hands of the sheriff are $GO,000, an amount al most equal to the indebtedness of the county. Every citizen will doubtless admit that this state of affairs ehould not exist, and that all taxes should be collected. On account of hard times in the past the county court Las shown leniency to taxpayers, but that leniency has reached the limit, and the court cannot wait longer . on delinquents to make settlements. For this reaeon a warrant has been attached to each de linquent roll commandiiis: the sheriff to collect all taxes by seizure and sale of property. With a bountiful crop now in eight, there can no longer be any rea sonable excuse for the non-payment of taxes. The sheriff ia bound by oath to comply with the terms of the warrants attached to the tax rolls for the collec tion thereof, and has no option in the matter. Delinquent taxpayers can save the co6t of eeizure an 1 sale of property by eettling their taxes at once. Robert Ke'ei.y, Sheriff aud Tax Collector for Waeco Couuty. Dated, August 4, 189S. Deafness Cannot be Cured by local applications, as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an inflamed con dition of the mucous lining of the Eus tachian Tube. When this tube is in-' flamed you have a rumbling eound or imperfect hearing, aud when it is en tirely closed, Deafness 13 the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed for ever; nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing but an in flamed condition of the mucous sur faces. We will give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that cannot be cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. Send for circulare; free. F. J. Ciienev & Co., Toledo, O. About two years ago a traveling salesman kindly gave me a small bottle of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarhoea Remedy. Much to my sur prise and delight its effects were imme diate.
