NEW THREES ARE
IN MUCH DEMAND
People Disposed to" Change" Old tissues
for New Bonds.
Nkw Yobk, July 20. The Times
says :
While the government bondlmarket
was quiet today, there was a lively in
quiry for the new government 3a when
issued, and a disposition was evident to
change old issues for the new bonds.
The quotations ttai rule were about
102 bid, 103 asked. These, however,
were regarded as tentative, and made to
induce holders of the popular denomi
nations of $500 and under to surrender
their allotments, the impression being
that when the new bonds are in exist
ence the prices will range between 104
and 106.
Zimmerman & Forshay, bankers, offer
to buy at the bid price and to sell at the
asked price.
There will be two Moodys in the next
house of representatives Moody of
Massachusetts, and Moody of Oregon,
says the Oregonian. The Massachusetts
Moody is one of the level-headed and
brainy men of the present house. He is
an able lawyer, and won distinction firet
in the Lizzie Borden trial. When be
came to the house he took a ranking po
sition, even as a new member, succedine
an. old and highly respected member.
General Cogswell, lie said to the Ore
gonian correspondent, after it was known
that Malcolm A. Moody was to repre
sent the second district cf Oregon, that
he supposed the Oregon Moody was a
relative of his, although he had not
traced the connection. He thinke that
a family of Moodys came over two cen
turies ago, and that tiiey are scattered
in different parts of the United States.
Just what relationship fie has to his
brother representative he does cot
know.
Tuesday was field day at the Chau
tauqua, Gladstone Park. An estimate
places the attendance at about 2000.
The events were 100-yard dash, 220
yard dash, 220-yard hurdle, running
high jump and pole vault. A good
many contestants entered in each event,
and the prizes were hotly fought for.
Besides the Y. M. C. A., under whose
auspices the meet was given, the follow
ing organizations were represented :
The M. A. A. C, the Pacific college,
the Oregon agricultural college, the Che-
mawa Indian school and the Salinas
high ecbool, of California. Although
the latter only had one man on the
field, it cairied off two medals.
Robbed the Grave.
A startling incident of which Mr. John
Oliver of Philadelphia, was the subject
is narrated by him as follows : I was in
a most dreadful condition. My skin
was almost yellow, eyes sunken, tongue
coated, pain continually in back and
sides, uo appetite gradually growing
weaker day by day. Three physicians
had given me up. Fortunately, a friend
advised trying 'Electric Bitters,' and to
my great joy and surprise, the first bot
tle made a decided improvement I con
tinued their nse for three weeks, and am
now a well man. I know they saved
my lite and robbed the grave of another
victim." No one should fail to try them.
The Discovery of the Day.
Aug" J. Bogel, the leading druggist of
Shreveport, La., says : "Dr. King's
New Discovery is the only thing that
cures my cough, and it is the best seller
I haye." J. E. Campbell, merchant of
Safford, Ariz., writes : Dr. King's New
Discovery is ail that is claimed for it;
it never fails, and is a sure curefor con
sumption, coughs and colds. I cannot
say enough for Its merits." Dr. King's
New Discovery for Consumption, Colds
and Coughs is not an experiment. It
has been tried for a quarter of a century,
and today stands at the head. It never
disappoints. Trial bottles free ut Blake
ley & Houghton's.
Persons troubled with diarhoea will
be interested in the experience cf W. M.
Bush, clerk of the hotel Dorrance, Prov
idence, E. I. He says : "For several
years I have buen almost a constant suf
ferer from diarrhoea, the frequent at
tacks completely prostrating me and
rendering me unfit for my duty at this
hotel. About two years ago a traveling
salesman kindly gave me a small bottle
of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and
Diarhoea Eemedy. Much to my sur
prise and delight ite effects were imme
diate. Whenever I felt symptoms of the
disease I would fortify myself against
the attack with a few doses of this val
ueabla remedy. The result has been
very satisfactory and almost complete
relief from the affliction." For sale by

There is more Catarrh in thia section
of the country than all othe dieeaeea put
together, and until the laat few years
wae supposed to be incurable. For a
great many years doctors pronounced it
a local disease, and prescribed local
remedies, and by constantly failing to
cure with local treatment, pronounced
it incurable. Science has proven catarrh
tobe a constitutional disease, and there
fore requires constitutional treatment.
Hall's Catarrah Cure, manufactured by
F. J. Cheney & Co., Toledo, Ohio, is the
only constitutional cure on the market.
It is taken internally in doses from ten
drops to a teasnoonful. It acts directly
on the blood and raucous surfaces of the
system. They offer one hundred dollars
for any case it fails to cure. Send for
circulars and testmonials. Address,
