tLast Sunday afternoon, in Walla Wal
a, Miss Elizabeth Schick, a young gtrl
of 15 years of age, daughter of J. J.
Schick, had a miraculous escape from
death. J. J. Schick and family drove
to the country Saturday to visit, having
a spirited team. Their visit being over
tbe family roado preparations to start
borne. Mr. Schick held the lines, being
-on the ground near the buggy wheels,
and Elizabeth started to get into the rig.
The horses became frightened and jerked
loose from Mr. Schick. The girls arm
caught between the brake rod and the
bed of the buggy, and, being unable to
extricate herself, there she hung. The
horses ran a distance of five miles, when
they were stopped by David Farrel and
the young girl rescued from her perilous
position. Strange to say, the girl has
no bones broken, but her body was bad
ly bruised in numerous plnc?e. During
the whole of that terrible ride the girl
was conEc'ous, and every moment ex
ptclel to lie dashed to death.
