It is rumored that ex-president Harri
eon will be a candidate for the United
States senate from Indiana. M
Oscar Taylor, a Salem brick mason,
Lad a miraculous escape from death yes
terday. Ho was working on the Willamette-
hotel, when ho lost his balance
nnd fell a distance of about ninety feet.
It is thought tliat lie is not seriously in
jured. The Hal of Emil Zilo, who is being
prosecuted by tho government as a re
sult of n letter which he wrote last De
cember to the Aurora, strongly re
flecting on high officials connected with
the Dreyfus case, opened in Parie yester
day. The most keen public interest was
manifested in the case. Hundreds of
people surrounded tho court anxious to
(fain admittance. The crowds increased
in number all the morning. Tho
arrival of Henri Kochefort was the sig
nal for shouts of "Vive Itochefort" and
counter cries of "Abas Kochefort." Zolo
snys that he has no hopes of a fair trial.
