Arthur Hodges, our efficient county
clerk, some time ago received a letter
from S. P. Dunn of Chico conveying the
ead news of the killing of his brother,
W. A. Dunn, who was a resident of this
county. Mr. Dunn started to California
with some horses for the purpose of dis
posing of them in that state. When at
Butte meadows, Butte county, Califor
nia, he was in some manner kicked by a
horse and instantly killed. The letter
to Mr. Hodges die not give the particu
lars.. Mr. Dunn was engeged in the
horse business in this county and resided
at Desert springs, near Sisters. Prine

and three years from the date of said
sale, with interest on such deferred pay
ments at the rate of 10 per cent per
annum, payable annually; provided
that the payment may be made in full
at any time at. the option of the pur
chaser. The said sale will begin on the 15th
day of May, 1897, at the hour of 2
o'clock p. m. of said day, and will con
tinue from time to time until all of said
