H. A. Stanley, of the Birjghampton,
If- ,Y., Evening Herald, who has been
at St. Michaels for seven weeks, lifts up
bis voice to warn prospectors against
going into ths Yukon. He gives what
jhe claims as approximately correct
statements as to the amount of provis
ions, and shows that with the number
of men already in camp there must be
starvation and suffering this winter.
The difficulties of the Chilcoot pass
have perhaps sayed many lives by keep
ing people out of the country. Nature
has been kind, but the action of the
transportation companies, or some of
them, will rank little short of murder.
If next summer the story of the Greely
expedition, multiplied five hundred
times, is not brought back from the
Yukon, then all signs fail.

The Mount Lebanon Shakers recently
performed a great deed of charity, al
though it was not designed as a charity,
being nothing more nor less than an ad
vertising scheme. It however resulted
in great good just the same. They gave
away 1000 bottles of their Digestive Cor
dial to those suffering from stomach de
rangements. It was so effective in curing those who
used the remedy that they were loud in
their praises of it and in consequence a
large demand for - the Cordial was at
once created.
The druggists of this town have little
books that tell all about it. Digestive
Cordial creates an appetite, aids diges

in flesh and strength.
