A dispatch from Vancouver in yester day's OteL'onian says: ''Conies of President Cleveland's proc lamation, issued February 22d, setting aside and describing the boundaries of I the Mount Ranier forest reserve, have been rtceived at the United States land office here. As described m the proc lamation, the reserve embraces the greater part of Skamania county, in 'Cludins many acres of the best farming lands in the countv, lying along the White Salmon river, Little White Sal mon, and the south fork of Lewis river, and other smaller but fertile valleys, the eouthern boundary of the reserve being the line between townships 3 and 4, north, Willamette base line, and extend ing west from range 10 to range 4 east, Willamette meridian, touching the east ern boundary of Clark county, the dis tance of two 'townships, 1 and 5 north. Tlif southern boundary in Skamania is at ceitain points only four miles distant from the Columbia river, and takes in about all of the Skamania mining dis trict, including the Canyon creek and Lewis river mines, where valuable gold deposits have recently been found, and in each of which considerable develop ment work has already been done, and where extensive preparations for devel oping many new claims have been going forward for some time. "The pioclatuation contains a clause excepting all lands previously entered."
