Such great interest has been mani fested tbronghont the country concern ing the remarkable talents of Miss Yaw, the charming young California soprano, that we publish herewith an interesting illustration of her' highest note in com parison with the highest notes of two famous prima donnas:' Yaw J2L When it is reniem bored that Cassie Renz only touched G on : the fourth Di Mnrska F above the third, ChriBtine Nilsson F eharp, and Fatti G on the fourth, Miss Yaw's voice will be the better appreciated by musicians When Nilsson sang the high F sharp in Mo zart's "Magic Flute," her listeners fairly labored between rapture and hys teria. Mies Yaw sings high F sharp without clie slightest effort, and sustains the note with the sweetest quality. If any have supposed that Miss Yaw, with her marvelous range, is merely a mu sical freak, they are very much mis taken. Her voice throughout its entire arange is sweet, expressive and sympa thetic; She reaches the highest and lowest notes with much less effort than the ordinary einger.'and 'sustains' them -with faultless accuracy. The expression of a critic upon Miss "Yaw's remarkable voice serves very aptly to define the sensation which fills the auditor when listening to ber phe nomenal pitch, E above' high E. "He said: ''Unman comprehension . may fol low her voice to high C and fairly keep its feet on earth, but when the seventh tone above that is vibrated with a clear, bell-like charn., it is then that, one as cribes the effect to some supernatural instrumentality; it is not earthly enough for our faltering conception." In Paris the critics marveled at her prodigious voice, as indeed did the famous Nilsson. When Miss Yaw sang C above high C the great prima donna could not comprehend the great altitude and was not satisfied that Miss Yaw had really reached this great height until be had struck the key oa the piano. N. Y. Muaical Courier, '94. Sudden Death of a Juryman.. The trial of Mrs. Nellie E. Jones on the charge of pocket-picking has been interrupted by an unusual incident the death of one of the jurors. "Last evening, upon adjournment of court," says the Telegram, "Juror F. M. Black went to his borne at Hunter's Station in apparently good health. Soon after reaching home he was stricken with paralysis, and his two daughters, who are married and live in town, were summoned to his bedside. "At 2 o'clock this morning Mr. Black died. He had been a resident of Mount Tabor for years, and was well known. He was engaged in fruit-raising and farming at one time. Hia death was a painful shock to the members of his family and hia friends, for it was sup posed he was in excellent health. To those who sat on the jury with him yes terday he appeared to be very well, in deed. ; "When the news was brought to the attention of the court this morning there ensued a consultation as to what should be done. The defendant and her coun sel were willing to proceed with the trial with eleven jurors, but Judge Stephens objected to this, as it was .im proper procedure and he could not coun tenance it. "To the proposition to draw one more new juror, Mr. Hume, of the counsel for defendant, objected, and as no other agreement could be reached, it was set tled by discharging the jury, and, the eettingof the case for trial January 19th the second day of the new term." The Mount Lebannon Shakers are of fering a product nnder the name of Shaker Digestive Cordial which yields immediate relief. The very first dose proves beneficial in most cases ; and " it is owing to their unbounded confidence in it, that they have put 10 cent sample bottles on the market. These can be had through any druggist; and it will repay the afflicted to invest the trifling sum necessary to make a trial.
