The Thirteen Superstition. Every superstition has its foundation either in fact or in some historic incident cited as a precedent. The thirteen ' superstition, for instance, is first men tioned about the sixth century by a Latin monastic writer of France, who France, who stated that it was unlucky for thirteen people to sit down at table together, as at "the last supper;" when . Christ and bis twelve apostles supped together, two of them died within a' year. Mention of the enperstitution oc curs frequently after this time, but .Judas being generatly overlooked, the superstition was limited to one death within the twelve months. Its frequent -citation by popnlar authors in almost -every language of Europe has dissemi aiated it to a greater extent than per ihaps any other one superstitious fancy, and equally in Armenia, Russia, Ger many, Italy, Spain, England and the United States the presence of thirteen at table is deemed an Inauspiciouaomen.'' This medicine is purely vegetable, acts by giving tone to the nerve centres in the stomach, gently stimulates the Liver and Kidneys, and aids these organs in throwingoff impurities in the blood. Electric Bit ters improves the appetite, aids diges ' tion and is pronounced by those wbo have tried it as the very best blood puri fier and nerve tonic. Try it. A large band walked across the ice on Cherry creek, and toot into a . pasture. Stephens posted himself at the opening and turned a pack of hounds loose on the game. They circled the pasture several times, and every time they passed, Stephens poured a volley of shots into them that thinned their ranks. He was engaged just 30 minutes and killed twenty-six antelope. They finally broke out at the north end of the pasture and got away.
