CAHCER CUREO and a -LIFE SAVED By the Persistent Use of Ayer's SarsapariJIa " I was troubled for years with a sore .on my knee, which several physicians, who treated me, called a cancer, ''.assuring me that. 'nothing could be done to save my life. "As a last resort, .! was induced to try Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and, after tak ing a number of .bottles, the sore began to disappear and my general health improve, I persisted in this treatment, until the sore was en tirely healed. Since then, I use Ayer's Sarsaparilla occasionally as a tonic and blood-purifier, and, in dfiprl. it seems as thoucrh I could not keep house without it." Mrs. S. A., Fields, Bloomfield, la. . The water commission was anxious to dispose of a part or all of -them, so that there might be more city taxt-s and water rents paid by actual ciiizms. Thompson believed the lots :ould be advantageously held for a time -and was afraid of speculators gobbling them all np, and ' was opposed to their eale. Mr. Crowe, also, did not see the urgency of selling the lots at present. The motion was withdrawn and another .one carried to indefinitely postpone. " 'The following claims were then al- . The recorder replied that the company had been notified of the prop osition of $8 per.light, to be shut off at 2 o'clock,- and .-bad received a counter proposition that the company would supply lights for t 10.50 per light, to be ehnt off at 2 o'clock. Mr. Crowe did not think the council should .entertain the new proposition, and did hot consider it was so good as the old one. His chief AVER'S reason, however, for opposing the far ther use of the lights was that he be lieved the city was not in a position to stand it financially. The expenditures, at a very close estimate, were Tanning along very close to the receipts, and in the event some disaster should happen, the city would be left without a dollar to remedy it. He stated that once the lights were 'shut off, he thought many business men would be willing to club together and bare lights at private ex pense. . He would for one. Others of the council took the same view as Mr. Crowe; and Mr. Nolan, who opened the interesting subject, closed it-by saying be did not think it was necessary to take any farther : action.-. The-council bad made its proposition ; it was not accepted; ;it only remained : for the Electric Light Co. to shut off the lighte. These views seemed to have the ap proval of the council and no farther ac tion was taken. Councilman Lauer referred to parties who were hired to work on the streets who employed their time principally in watching the hobos, and believed that hereafter those be employed who would do more work and not so much superin tending. His remarks were corroborated by Mr. Wood and Mayor Menefee. . Councilman Crowe called attention to some of the streets being in a bad condi tion, and believed the law should be en forced requiring property owners to takej care of streets adjoining'.their property Adjourned.
