La Grippe, for Golds, Coughs,
AND LUNG TROUBLES,
AVER'S
CHERRY
PECTORAL
"Two years ago, I had the grippe,
and it left me with a cough which gave
me no rest night or day. My family
physician prescribed for me, changing
the medicine as often as he found the
things I had taken were not helping
me, but, in spite of his attendance, I got
no better. Finally, my husband, read
ing one day of a gentleman who had
tad the grippe and was cured by taking
.Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, procured, for
me, a bottle of this medicine, and before
I had taken half of it, I was cured. I
lave used the Pectoral for my children
and in my family, whenever we ''have
needed it, and have found it a specific
for colds, coughs, and lung troubles."

PULPITS AND PEWS.'
M. E. CHURCH.
The morning subject at the M. .
church ras "Spotted Religion" Mr.
Wood began his discourse with the
statement that man is a religious be
ing naturally and if he is- not it is be
cause of some injury committed by him
self. Pure religion is bard to attain.
There are spots on all chronicled re
ligions. There were on the religion of
the Israelites. Of the Pharisees, as
godly a people as can be found in the new
testament, inasmuch as they were zeal
ous and prayerful and dispensed wide
charities, Christ said that if the religion
of his followers was not better than the
Pharisees, they could not enter the
kingdom of HeaveD. Spots were found
upon the seven churches, Ephesus,
Smyrna, Pergamos, etc., with the ex
ception of Philadelphia, of which no
comment was made. The Christian re
ligion was harder to live up to because it
was a religion of being as well as doing.
All that is neceseary to be a good Bud
dhist or Mohammehan was to comply
with certain forms and outward cere
moniee. The Chrietian precepts are be
ye good, "be ye pure," "blessed are the
pure in heart." A Christian should
carry purity and Christian principle into
all the walks of life and into politics, as
well as anything else. Vote as you pray,
and let the spiritual obligation reach to
civil life. John Wanamaker and J. D.
Rockefeller were quoted as examples of
devoted Christian men being successful
in business affairs. The attentioe of the
congregation was then directed to spots
that may possibly exist in their char
acters, charity, conversation, manner of
welcoming strangers, etc., and urged a
prayerful consideration upon the points
noted. A spotted religion does not com
mend itself to the world.
Confessed fits Guilt.
Mr. Joseph Proulx, Hying on Govern
ment Flat, missed a chest of goods a few
days ago and found trace of them Satur
day in a singular manner. While in the
East end talking to Mr. Isbell about his
loss, he mentioned among the things a
razor. Mr. Isbell said he purchased a
razor the other day of a man on the
street. He was requested to show it and
produced the case, the razor being at a
barber ehop for repairs. The case was
at once recognized by Mr. Proulx as his
own. Mr. Darnielewas made acquainted
with the facts, and ransacked his feed
yard, finding the balance of the stuff
hidden in a secret place. The officers
were then summoned, to whom was giv
en a description of the thief and to
day they found him in the person of one
Joe Campell. Campell was taken be
fore Justice Davis today, pleaded guilty,
and made a fall confession. The justice
therefore bound him over to appear be
fore the grand jury.

The readers of this paper will be
pleased to learn that there is at least
one dreaded disease that science has
been able to cure in all its stages, and
that is Catarrh. Hall's Catarrh Cure is
the only, positive cure known to the
medical fraternity.' Catarrh' being a
constitutional disease, requires a consti
tutional treatment. Hall's Catarrh
Cure is taken internally, acting directly
upon the blood and mucous surfaces of
the system, thereby destroying the foun
dation of the disease, and giving the
patient strength by building up the con
stitution and assisting nature in doing
its work. The proprietors have so much
faith in its curative powers, that they
offer One Hundred Dollars for any case
that it fails to cure. Send for list of
