    CANCER CURED
AND A
LIFE SAVED
By the Persistent Use of
Ayer's Sarsapaiifla
"I was troubled for years with a
sore on my knee, which several
physicians, who treated me, called a
cancer, assuring me that nothing
could be done to save my life. As
a last resort, I was induced to try
Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and, after tak
ing a number of Iwjttles, the sore
7 A
began to disappear and my general
health improve, I persisted in this
treatment,' until the sore was en
tirely healed. Since then, I use
Ayer's Sarsaparilla occasionally as
a tonic and blood-purifier, and, in
deed, it seems as though I could not
keep house without it." Mrs. S. A.

Robbery at Heppner.
The boldest robbery that ever occurred
in Heppner took place last-night. Two
masked men held up the Oregon
-Kail way & Navigation Company's agent,
-and made him, at the point of their re
volvers, open his safe and give them the
- cash. They secured probably $50.
The robbery took place about 9:30
o'clock. The agent and his wife went
' into the office at that time, and two men
vwalked in, with their faces covered with
black masks, and, covering the agent
and his wife, ordered them to hold up
their hands. The agent asked them
what lor. iney repuea "liecause we
want you to." They ordered him to
open the safe, saying they, wanted his
money, and only had a minute to wait.
Mrs. Hart, th9 agent's wife, left the
room, notwithstanding they ordered her
to stop, and went down the track for the
brakeman, who had left the depot about
ten. ininutes before, and was at the
coach getting ready for a night's run.
. The alarm was quickly given ; but so
far no trace of the robbers has been
found. Oue was a tall man and the
other of medium size. The depot is
about 200 yards from any other occupied
building, and a great many wonder that
a robbery has never occurred before.
Dafar1! Population to Increase
Dr. A. Deitrich of Dufur left this
morning for Wisconsin and Indiana on a
colonization scheme.' This kind of work
is a favorite with the doctor, who practi
cally settled the Nehalem valley some
years ago with a thrifty population of
Germans, who have made that section
busy and jrosperous. Though Dr.
Deitrich has reaped little benefit person
ally, he has benefited the common-,
wealth greatly by his work in this line.
For some time past the doctor has been
in correspondence with acquaintances
east, maturing in the present trip east.
The colonists he will bring or who will
follow him will settle aroiyid Dufur,
buying in great part improved and
deeded land.

None But Ayer's at the World's Fair.
Ayer's Sarsaparilla enjoys the extra
ordinary distinction of having been the
only blood purifier allowed on exhibit at
the world's fair, Chicago. Manufact
urers of other sarsaparillas sought by
every means to obtain a showing of their
goods, but they were all turned away
under the application of the rnle for
bidding the entry of patent medicines
and nostrums. The decision of the
world's fair authorities in tavor of Aver's
Sarsaparilla was in effect aB follows:
"Ayer's Sareaparilla Is not a patent
medicine. It does not belong to the
list of nostrums. It is here on its
merits."

The readers of this paper will be
pleased to learn that there is at least
one dreaded dieease that science has
been able to cure in all its stages, and
that is Catarrh. Hall's Catarrh Cure is
the only positive cure known to the
medical fraternity. Catarrh being a
constitutional disease, requires a consti
tutional treatment. Hall's Catarrh
Cure is taken internally, acting directly
upon the blood and mucous surfaces of
the system, thereby destroying the foun
dation of the disease, and giving the
patient strength by building up the con
stitution and assisting nature in doing
its work. The proprietors have so much
faith in its curative powers, that they
offer One Hundred Dollars for any case
that it fails to cure. Send for list of
testimonials. Address :

It is a big thing to say but neverthe
less true, that a great multitude of peo
ple have crowned Simmons Liver Regu
lator, the "King of Liver Medicines."
There is nothing like it for Malaria,
Rheumatism, Chills and Fevee, Consti
pation, Biliousness, Sick Headache, In
digeston and all troubles arising from a
sluggish, or diseased liver. Simmons
Liver Regulator is the prevention and
cure ior tnese ailments.
If there is any one . thing that need
to be purified, it is politics, so the re-
former says, and many agree thereto.
But blood tells, and as a blood purifier
and liver corrector Simmons Liver Reg
ulator ia the best medicine. "I use it in
preference to nnv other." So wrote Mr
S. H. Hyeell, of Middleport. Ohio. And
Dr. D. vs. Kuesell, of Farmville, Va.,
