Nervous Prostration
Complete Kecovery by tho Usa of
Ayer's Sarsapasilla
" Some years ago, as a result of too
close attention to business, my health
failed. I becaino weak, nervous, was
unable to look after my interests, and
manifested all the symptoms of a de
cline. I took three bottles of Ayer's
Sai-saparilla, began to impijpve at once.
and gradually increased my weislil from
one hundred and twenty -five to two
hundred pounds. Since then, I and my
family have used this medicine when
needed, and wo arc all' in the best of
iealth, a fact which we attribute to
Ayer's Sarsnparilla. I believe my chil
dren would have been fatherless to-day
liad it not been for Ayer's Sarsapariiln,
of which preparation I cannot say too
nuch." H. O. Hinsox, Postmaster and

At the Churches Yesterday.
The different churches were well at
tended yesterday. Eev. J. N. Goes
preached, very acceptably, at St. Paul's
Episcopal church. Communion was
also observed. The sermon was on the
duty of praising God for the bleesings he
bestowed, some of whom Mr. Goes
enumerated. The attendance was good
t the evening service, also the singing
by the choir was of a high order.
At the Cougregational church in the
-morning, communion was served, pre
ceding which an appropriate sermon
was preached by the pastor, W. C.
Curtis. A solo by Dr. O. D. Doane
added much to the interest of the morn
ing service. In the evening the pastor
spoke from the text, "Come let us go to
Gilgal and renew the kingdom." Ap
plication was made of the text to things
of the new year. Tonight the yearly
parish meeting will be held, at which
plana for the year will be laid.
The First Baptist church waa the
ecene of three services yesterday. In
the morning the pastor, Rev. O. D. Tay
lor, preached. In the afternoon Rev. Mr
Cray, of the Lutheran church held ser
vices, which were attended by a num
ber of English and German Lutheran?
In the evening, Elder J. H. Miller, of
the Calvary Baptist church, preached a
sermon and then administered the rite
of baptism by immersion. Ten or
eleven, the exact number we did not
learn, were immersed and received into
the church.
Services were held at the other
churches also, though no report of the
meetings was received.
A. E. Kilpatrick, of Fillmore, Cal.,
bad the misfortune to have his leg
caught between a cart and a stone and
badly bruised. Ordinarily he would
have been laid up for two or three weeks,
but says: "After using one bottle of
Chamberlain's Fain Balm I began to
feel better, and in three days was entire
ly well. The peculiar soothing'qualities
which Chamberlain's Pain Balm po
sesses I have never noticed in any other
liniment. I take pleasure in recom
xnending it." This liniment is also of
great value for rheumatism and lame
back. For sale by Blakeley & Houghton,
Druggist.

varioua ailments of children said
"When my children have croup there is
only one patent medicine I ever use, and
mat is Chamberlain's Cough Remedy.
It possesses some medical properties
that relieve the little- sufferers immedi
ately. It ie, in my opinion, the beet
coughrnedicine in the market." If this

Mr. Smith French brought to The
Chronicle office today a sample of the
Kaffir corn, which ia creating something
of a stir in the agricultural world. This
corn is said to be well suited for dry cli
mates and to not only provide good feed
for horses and cattle, but to be ground
into flour, from which excellent bread
can be made. Tomorrow The Chron
icle will publish an article upon the
subject of the Kaffir corn. The subject
is one of real interest to the farmers of
Eastern Oregon. Mr. D. M. French,
who leaves Wednesday to attend a meet
ing of the regents of the State Agricul
tural echool, will ask that experiments
be tried in growing Kaffir to see whether
it will justify all that haa been said
about it.
There are some people who are never
positive in anything. It is always, "I

a word of such people, and it is refresh

one having convictions, like Mr. Chaa.
