A SPECIFIC
FOR
La Grippe, for Golds, Coughs,
AND LUNG TROUBLES,
AYER'SJSc"t"oyl
"Two years ago, I had the grippe,
and it left me with a cough which gave
me no rest night or day. My family,
physician prescribed for me, changing
the medicine as often as he found the
things I had taken were not helping
me, but, in spite of his attendance, I got
, no better. Finally, my husband, read
ing one day of a gentleman who had
had the grippe and was cured by taking
Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, procured, for
me, a bottle of this medicine, and before
I had taken half of it, I was cured. 1
have used the Pectoral for my children
and in my family, whenever we have
needed it, and have found it a specific
for colds, coughs, and lung troubles."

The Coming Institute at The Dalles.
School Superintendent Shelly has is
sued the following address, which will
be of interest to the teachers of Wasco
county :
A Teachers' Normal Institute for the
teachers of this county and those of ad
joining counties, who. may wieh to at
tend, has been planned to meet at The
Dalies, Dec. 30th, and continue in ses
sion two weeks.
Many teachers of the county have
been earnestly asking for a meeting of
euch length, and would be glad to attend
one every year. The institute fuDd,
however, is so small as to render this
impossible. It was therefore deter
mined last year to hold. a short session
and so save a part of the funds for the
.present year. Even with this arrange
ment, they will fall short of meeting
such expenses as must necessarily be in-
as it should be for such a length of time.
In consequence, I have concluded to aek
the teachers, and all prospective teachers
who may wish to attend as students, to
contribute each $1 towards these expen
ces. As this is customary in other lead
ing educational countries. I feel sure
the teachers of Wasco, who have always
heretofore shown their "hearty co-operation
in institute work, will gladly re
spond. President Campbell of the Monmouth
normal echool, and Prof. Gavin of The
Dalles public school, will be instructors.
Instructions will be given in all branches
on which examination is had for county
certificate?, and in most of those for state
certificates. Special instruction in
methods of teaching will be given for
the benefit of young teachers who have
never received any normal training.
The usual entertainments of lectures,
music and other exercises will be held
Several evenings.
Good board can be had in The Dalles
cheaper than ever. Make your arrange
ments so that, if possible, you will not
'miss a day for every day will count.
Remember, you cannot possibly keep
your place iu the rank of teachers now
adays without attending institutes. It
will cost you something to attend, but
it will cost you much more to be absent.
Do not forget to extend a welcomo to all
your friends to attend all sessions.
Bring all your text-books, and help
make this meeting a grand success for
yon and others. That it will be a suc
cess, the past institutes of the county
stand as a guarantee.

Catarrh. Hall's Catarrh Cure is the
only postive cure now known to the

directly upon the blood and mucous sur

the foundation of the disease, and giv
