AYER'S: PILLS
" I would like to arid my testimony to
that of others who have used Ayer's
Pills, anil to say that I have taken th-m
for many years, and always derived the
hest results from their use. For stom
ach ami liver troubles, and for. the cure
of headache caused liy these derange
meats, Ayer's Pills cannot be equaled.
When my friends ask me what is tlin
best remedy for disorders of the stom
ach, liver, or bowels, my invariable
answer is, Ayer's Pills. Taken in sen
son, they will break up a cold, prevent
la grippe, check fever, and regulate tho
digestive organs. They are easy to
take, and are, indeed, the best all-round
family medicine I have ever known."

Corn Take a Wise.
Chicago, Aug. 13. Corn has made a
2-cent advance today, shooting up to
38I4C for September, after selling at 86c
early. Short selling, it was stated, had
been overdone and the cash demand
finally made itself felt. All markets
here, wheat, corn, and oats, appear to
be on a cash basis.

Mr. Fred Miller, of Irving, III. writes
that he had a Severe Kidney trouble for
many years, with severe pains in bis
back and also that his bladder was
affected. He tried many fo called Kid

About a year ago be began use of Electric

of all Kidney and Liver troubles and

Pain 8 in the small of the back indicate
a diseased condition of the kidneys.
Owing to the dangerous nature of the
di eases which attack those organs it is
important that measures should be
taken to remove the trouble before it
has become too firmly fixed. Prudence
-would suggest the prompt use of Dr. J.
H. McLean's Liver and Kidney Balm
which has epecfic action on the liver and
kidneys and will cause an early restora
tion to healthy conditions. Price $1.00

There comes a time to all of us, when
we feel mean and "out of sorts"' and in a

we need such a remedy as Dr. J. 11. Mc

influence is surprising, promptly restor

Weather Crop Bulletin No SO of the
Oregon State Weather Hervlce for
Kaatern Oregon.
Weather The temperature rose
to 110 degrees on Monday, August 5tb.
Since then it has fallen, but rose again
Saturday and Sunday. The maximum
temperature during the week ranged
from 74 to 100 deg., and the minimum
from 44 to 72 degrees. There was an en
tire absence of rainfall except on Tues
day, the 6th, when a few drops of rain
fell in the northeastern counties. The
atmosphere has been hazy, with increas
ing smoke, due to the forest fires in the
western portion of the state.
Chops Hai vesting of the cereal crop
continues. Headers are in operation in
all sections. Threshing has commenced
in some few localities. . The wheat, when
threshed, is turning out about as ex
pected, i. e., fall-sown wheat has a good
average yield, while volunteer and
spring grain yields from 5 to 10 bushels
per acre. The general crop for export
will not be as large as last year. The
greatest falling off in local yield appears
to be in Morrow, Gilliam and Wasco
counties.
- Grasshoppers continue to prevail in
large numbers in Union and contiguous
counties. They have done considerable
damage, and yet are destroying the
green vegetation.
The fruit is in good condition and is
ripeuing rapidly. Many new sections
have developed, where fruit can be sue
cessfully and profitably grown. Melons
are especially prolific in Wasco county;
in this county the apple und peach crop
will be unusually large. Peaches are a
large crop, where grown, in Gilliam
c miity and reports from the Snake river
fruit district indicate an unusually full
crop of peaches and apples.
The dry weather has caused the range
crass to dry up and milch cows have to
be ted. The stock on the ranges have
been in the mountains for the past
two months, where it will continue to
remain until the fall rains start the
grass on the usual range. The food in
the mountains is good and stock is re
ported to be in good condition.
August is usually very dry ; seldom
does any rain fall during the month.
The conditions at present do not indi
cate other thau usual - weather for the
next few weeks, which is warm, dry and
emoky. The fore part of September
usually some rain falls, which is suffi
cient to lay the dust and clear the at
mosphere. Mr. Ptgue has returned from his tem
porary tour of duty in San Francisco,
and has assumed charge of the Portland,
Or., office.
Suggestions as to the improvement of
these bulletins, or means to extend the
scope and usefulness of the weather
bureau work are solicited from all who
may in any way be interested.
Portland, Or., Aug. 13, 1895.
One night when Mr. Isaac Reese was
stopping with me, says M. F. Hatch, a
prominent merchant of Quartermaster,
Washiugton, I heard him groaning. On
going to his room I found him suffering
from cramp colic. He was in such ag
ony I feared he would die. I hastily
gave him a dose of Chamberlain's Colic,
Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. He was
soon relieved and the first words he
uttered were, "what was that stuff you
gave me?" I informed him. A few
days 'ago we were talking about the
attack and he said he was never without
that remedy now. I have used it in my
family for several years. I know its
worth and do rot hesitate to recommend
it to my friends and customers. For
sale by Blakeley & Houghton Druggist.

There is more Catarrh in this section
of the country than all other diseases
put together, and until the last few
years was supposed to be incurable.
For a" great many years doctors pro
nounced it a local disease, and prescrib
ed local, remedies, and by constantly
failing to cure with local treatment, pro
nounced it incurable. Science - has
proven catarrh to be a constitutional
disease and therefore requires constitu
tional treatment. Hall's Catarrh Cure,
manufactured' by F. J. Cheney & Co.,
Toledo, Ohio, is the only constitutional
cure on the market. It is taken inter
nally in doses from 10 drops to a tea-
spoonful. It acts directly on the blood
mucous surfaces of the system. They
offer one hundred dollars for any case it
fails to cure. Send for circulars and tes
timonials. Address.

None But Ayer's at the Worlds Fair.
Ayer's Sarsaparilla enjoys the extra

Gentlkmkn The Waveiley 8corch-r and Be'le came to hand
vesterda. We are afraid you have sent u the high-priced wheel
bv mistake. You can't mean to t-ll us that this wheel retails for
$85? We must say that it if, without ezo ption, the prettiest wheel
we have ever seen, and, moreover, we have faith in it. although it
weighs only 21 lbs., for of all Wa- erleys we have sold this year and
last and you know that it a right good number!, we have never
had a single frame nor fork broken, either from accident or defect,
and that is more than we can sav uf any other wheel, however
high grade, so called, that we sell. We congratulate ourselves
