'-' CANCER CURED AND A LIFE SAVED By the Persistent Use of Ayer's Sarsaparilla "I was troubled for years with a sore on my knee, which several physicians, who treated me, called a cancer, assuring me that nothing could be done to save my life. As a last resort, I was induced to try Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and, after tak ing a number of bottles, the sore 1 began to disappear and my general health improve. I persisted in thia treatment, until the sore was en tirely healed. Since then, I use Ayer's Sarsaparilla occasionally as a tonic and blood-purifier, and, in deed, it seems as though I could not keep house without it." Mrs. S. A. Fields, Bloomfield, la. AYER'S The Only World's Fair Sarsaparilla. Ayer's Pills Regulate the Liver. Shernu County Items. August 5th, 1895. To this Editor. Everyone is busy preparing for the coming harvest, which promises to be larger than was at first expected. The acreage in grain is not more than half what it was last year, but the yield will be moderately good Of coarse volunteer is a failure, and late spring g,aiu will not be worth much; bat yoar correspondent knows of several places in Sherman county that will go twenty to twenty-five bushels to the acre easily. Mrs. S. S. Hayes, wife of our county clerk, accompanied by her two. children and her niece, Mrs. Wyatt, started last Thursday for their old home in Linn county, where they will eo-journ this month. The clerk himself, with H. A Moore and J. B. Hosford are this week camped on the classic banks of Badger creek dealing out death and destruction to the finny tribe. Let us hope their piscatorial efforts will meet with success Milton Damon and Henry Hennagin, with their respective families, returned last week from Hood River, where they had been spending a couple of weeks picking berries and recuperating gener ally for the harvest seaso'n. Mr.' Martin, representing the Eastern Oregon Land Co., has been stopping in the county during the past week looking after the company's interests here. He left for The Dalles last Saturday. Judge Bellinger's decision condemn ing generally the appointment of re . ceivers in farm mortgage foreclosure cases is meeting with unqualified ap proval from the farmers in this county. Viewed from the farmers' ' standpoint, the decision is a beneficial one, if it re sults in diminishing the number of farm loans in the future. Doubtless the money lender looks upon it as a rank injustice, but that does not trouble the borrower a particle. The latter seems to enjoy hugely any judicial decision, whether equitable or otherwise, which tends to hamper the former in recover ing bis dues. Such is the ingratitude of poverty. The people of Grant echool district are preparing to build a large school . house, but there seems to be a differ ence of opinion among the legal voters as to where it ought to be located, whether in the town of Grant or further east near Rufas. Rev. Morehead, who has so acceptably filled the Methodist pulpit here for the last couple of years, expects to be trans ferred to another sphere of doty by the next conference which will meet at Spo kane in a couple of weeks. Hts depart ure will be regretted by his friends, whose name is legion. Vaga. JSnoklen'B AtUM salve. There were about twenty-five present and all atten ding report a good time and wish Miss Hattie many such enjoyable events. The population of Mosier was in creased this week by the addition of Mr. Smith's family from Hood River. Miss Kate McCane and Miss Mary Riley are guests .of Mri. Waters at present. I should think that the people of this vicinity would take it into hand and see that there were no more dead horses left to decay so close to the public roads. The horse that died 'at Lambs' a week or so ago, lies within seventy-five yards of the two county roads, and any one going down there gets full benefit of the awful stench that comes from the decomposl tion of such animals. . It is injurious to health and should be seen to at once. We havea snakecharmer here. Ayer's Sarsaparilla enjoys the extra ordinary distinction of having been the only blood purifier allowed an exhibit at the World's Fair, Chicago. Manu facturers of other sarsaparilla sought by every means to obtain a showing of their goods, but they were all turned away under the application of the rale' fore bidding, the entry of patent medicines and nostrums. The decision of the World's fair authoritfes in favor of Ayer's Sarsaparilla was in effect as fol lows: "Ayer's Sarsaparilla is not a patent medicine. It does not belong to the list of nostrums. It is here on its merits." Another llectrocution. Sing Sing, Aug. 5. Richard Leach was electrocuted at 11:10.
