Ross, of the firm of Ross, Grey & Wyatt,
Las just arrived at Market Lake from St.
Anthony, and reports everybody in
ackson's Hole killed this morning. It
s considered authentic news, and ex
itement is intense. The United States
roops from Cheyenne will arrive in the
pity in the morning at 6 o'clock, and
jrill leave at once for Market Lake, and
hence by wagon toad for the Fall river
rountry. Courier Sargent arriyed in
Market Lake this morning from the vi-
inity of Jackson's Hole. He left a
ompanion in the country, who intended
iroceeding into the Hole if possible and
eturn with the news. He is expected

License on Banks.

ass has found a way to make banks
elp support the city government. Ac-
ording to an old ordinance, which has
ever been enforced, among those com-
eiled to pay license fees to the city for the
rivilege of doing business, are "banks,
rokers, commission merchants, grain
nd produce dealers, real estate and in
surance agents." National banks are
xempt, but notices have gone to all the
otbera. The fee is $25 a year. This
means an additional revenue of $20,000.
Among the numerous persons who

Hobokkn, N. J., Jnly 26. After a bat
tle of three-quarters of an hour, during
which he stood off three officers trying
to arrest him last night for beating his
wife, John Spellisby, of Union Hill, was
killed in his own house. Spellisby was
the most desperate man in New Jersey.

States cruiser Columbia sailed for New
York at 12 :30, on a speed test across the
-Atlantic.

cratic city central committee has split
on the question of primaries4 for selec
tion of delegates to the state silver con
vention at Pertie Springs, August 28.
Ten committeemen refuse to participate
in the primaries on tha ground that they
are not called as a democratic conven
tion, but for the avowed purpose of pro
moting unlimited coinage of silver at a
ratio of 16 to 1.
