Hamburg, Jnrie 20. The demeanor ot
" the French admiral, Menard, and hii
officers toward Prince Henry of Prussia,
was cordial, and left the best impression
upon the German naval, commander-in-chief.
.
It is understood that the joint entry of
the French and Russian squadrons into
Keil harbor was arranged beforehand by
telegraph. It has certainly been taken
in the light of a demonstration which
Bassians declare to have been merely a
coincidence. The Bismarckian organs
attribute it to French intrigue.
The speech to be delivered by the em
peror today has been drawn up by
Prince Hehenlohe. It will be in the na
ture of a solemn consecration of a new
era of peace.
It is reported that the authorities of
the Keil arsenal intend to dismiss a
number of socialist workman who fra
ternized with the sailors of the French
fleet, though on private vessels.
The Wetter Zeitung publishes an
alarmist article prophesying that the
vessels passing through the canal will
go around, that the banks will give away
and that many other accidents will oc
cur to mar the festivities.
Trala Robber Shot.
, Ridding, Cal., June 20. Thirty men
.were 'searching for the train-robber,
BradyV'in, this vicinity yesterday. A
tight between Brady and the officers oc
curred, when Brady received two gun
shot wounds in his face. .The brush
near the sceae of the battle' was thick,
and Brady probably was biding. Con
stable Martin says when he started from
.Cottonwood he expected to locate Brady
and then return to Bedding for a posse,
Martin suddenly came upon Brady, who
pulled a gun and Martin bad to fight or
allow Brady to escape. .
Brady was last seen at Dawson's, by a
colored man living 1J miles from the
scene of the shooting. . He walked quite
lame. He had two shots in the. right
side of his face, and his right eye was
swollen or gone. He asked for a drink
and left. He bad his shotgun with
him.

New Tobk, June 20. A special to the
World from Colon eay s :
The local newspapers say the Nicara
gnan canal commissioners will probably
come here to inspect the Panama canal
before returning home, adding that
their report will be .of no value to the
isthmus, and may seal the fate of either
or both canals.
The Nicaraguan canal commissioners
taken out by the Montgomery are ex
pected to be returning to New York by
way of Costa Bica, on an Atlas steam
ship.

Very bad policy to neglect symptoms
of trouble in the kidneys. If allowed to
develop they cause much suffering and
sorrow. Bright's Disease, Diabetes and
Dropsy owe their great prevalence and
fatality to neglect of the first warning
symptom. Dr. J. H. McLean's Liver
and Kidney Balm is a certain cure for
any disease or weakness of the kidneys.
