Victorious Spaniards. Santiago Dk Cuba, April 20. Colonel Bantocildes reports from ManraDillo, where be is in command, that April 8 be eent ont 000 troops in three columns to Ban Vincento, to search for insurgents. At Paha Gorda they encountered and put to flight a small party. The tight lasted but a few minutes. The insur gents lost three killed, all their horses and most of their arms. April 9 the eame troops defeated, the insurgents at Sabanagna. Three insurgents were kill ed and one Spanish soldier was wounded. Two days later a party of soldiers, who were scooting near Bodega Chinos, came upon a large band. They killed four of the insurgents and put the rest to flight, losing only two men wounded. Later on in the day, the same troops overtook another band at Santa Lucas. The fight was shorter, and. almost bloodless. It ended with the defeat of the insur gents and the capture of their arms, horses and provisions by the Spanish force. ' Still Another Teasel Fired Upon. Key West, April 20. It is reported here, by the master of the British schooner Gertrude, which arrived from Nassau today, that a British smack, which plies regularly between Long Key andNaesna, was fired upon by a Spanish gunboat and two of her seaman killed and the schooner taken to Santiago de Cuba by the gunboat. Great excite ment prevailes at Nassau over the affair. General Sterenaon of Colorado. Chicago, April 20. General B. M' Stevenson, editor of the Chieftain, of Pu eblo, Colo., died at the Victoria hotel to day. General Stevenson was taken ill here Sunday en route to New YorK. The remains will be sent west tonight. George, one of the pioneer educators of the Pacific coast, died at his home at College Park, this morning. From 1873 till 1691 he held the chair of natural sciences at the University of the Pacific.
