"The project of building a telephone line from The Dalles to Antelope is being agitated vigorously in this country, and judging from the interest manifested by most of those who would be the princi pal stockholders, it is very probable that the echeme will materialize before long. It Is proposed to build the line from The Dalles to this place by way of Dufnr, Boyd, Kingsley, Sberar's Bridge, Bake Oven and Cross Hollows. The distance between these two. points, taking this course, is something like 75 or 80 miles and on account of the poles being so easily procured, the expense of building the line would be much less than that required in most other places. By each nf t.TiA nl (I roa n a m or! talrincr i f a rirtrrvt. . i .f. lionate share of stock in the enterprise it would not be a hard matter to have the line completed and in in working order by the 1st of July. The Dalles is the shipping point for this country, and a telephone line to that place would be of inestimable value to every citizen in this part of the interior. There is not a man doing business of any kind in this part of the country but that wonld have occasion to use the telephone several times each year. Such a line would save a man many a long, tiresome, expensive trip to The Dalles, and we don't believe there is a citizen in this part of the country but that would be glad to take stock in the enter-prise. We hope to hear of satisfactory development in the near future." Herald. "Such a line has been under consideration by the citi Zens ot Mitcneil lor some time and our people are, we think, favorably inclined towards it. Should the Antelope people desire our co-operation in this matter we would be glad to join in with them and make the telephone a success. There is no doubt but that it would be of great oenent to tne people along tne proposed line and there is no reason why it could not be put through at once." Mitchell Monitor. . ...
