Editor Chronicle : I saw a notice in the Oregonian of the 27th of Feb., wherein E. L. Smith of Hood River i8 quoted as saying that he is one of many republicans of Wasco county, who re grets the defeat of Senator Dolph, and says also "that it will be some years be fore Wasco county sends another Coon to the legislature." Now I think it would be well for Mr. Smith to leave Coon out, as he has made a clean, conscientious representative, a man who was always at his post, and voted and worked for every measure that was for the interest of Wasco county or any portion thereof. It rather hard to be knocked out by a Coon, but time will tell whether the people of Wasco county will want any more Coon or not. Cum Tux. Dr. Doane Complimented.
