Electric I.lchtinR In Spain.
Spaniards, although slow in the adop
tion of many improvements, are de
cidedly not so in repard to electric
lighting. A large number of the prin
cipal towns, as well ns many very small
ones, have insulations of their own.
The latest venture is on the part of the
owner of some water power near the
two very limited towns, Elpalbar and
Eibar. in the Spanish province of Vis
caya, these towns will shortly be sup
plied with electric current for both
lighting and power purposes. The nec

Algerian IUclers.
The donker in Algeria rarely has a
saddle. He has a pad very similar to
the pad on which the bespangled
queens of the sawdust ring dance their
short hour to delirhted boys and rus
tics. The pad has no stirrups and is
so wide as to make a seat on it ex
tremely tiring to the uninitiated. The
Arab sits astride or sidewisc, and as
the pad is rarely girthed, or at best by
a slender rope, it is like walking a
tight rope or mauaging a birch bark
canoe to sit on it.
