The attendance of teachers is the larg est that hat over been in this county, the enrollment being ilfty-four. The excursion question was very quickly settled by an almost unanimous vote to visit the Cascade Locks. The oflicersofithe Regulator would do well to make up their minds to an uncondi tional surrender when they land here next .Saturday morning. It might be well for themjtot to visit many interior pastures and orchards on the way down to this ioint. Wild teachers and wide lunch baskets will require much of their spare room. The entertainment last evening was very pleasant, interesting and full of in struction. The music was excellent; the recitations of the young Indies re ceived the warm approval of the packed audience; and the orator Prof. 1'. L. Campbell, of the Monmouth Normal school, lost none of his well-earned reputation as a brilliant, instructive speaker. The only departure from the programe published was two solos ; the first by Dr. Brosius, who sang, "A Dream of Love ;" the second by S. K. Bartmess, who sang "Nearer My Gcd to Thee," instead of the "Skating Glee." The teachers were evidently on their good behavior after the arrival of Deputy Jackson. The irtodt of Ihe gentlemen immediately entered a sailboat and sailed out on to the heaving Columbia. A remarkable rock was descried, and Sunt. Shelley started out on a simile designed to awe us by its grandeur, but was promptly silenced by the matter-of-fact boatman saying, "It looks like the hind end of a covered wagon." The ladies havo reported the finding of nothing more important than an ice cream parlor. It was painful to see the look of dullness on the face of gentlemen when informed of this. ;Xhc following names have been en--rolled today: Nellie Kigby, Emma Vogt, Mrs. K.
