To cure a cold quickly, it muet be treated before the cold has become settled in the system. The first symptoms of a cold is a dry, loud cough and sneezing. The cough "is soon followed by watery ex pectoration and the sneezing by a pro fuse watery discharge from the nose. In severe cases there is a thin white coating on the tongue. What to do? It is only necessary to take Chamberlain's Cough Remedy in double does every hour. That will greatly lessen the severity of the cold and in many cases will effectu ally counteract it, and cure what would have been a severe cold within one or two davs time. A few " days ago she told Charlie at dinner: "Reciprocity is a great thing." "When did you find that out?" asked Charlie. "A lady stepped on my dress today and never offered a word of apology." "Of course not," chnckled Charlie. "Bat she smiled." "Oh!" "Then I smiled. You see that smile produced a smile in return." "A man would have smiled, too, under the circumstances." remarked Charlie. "That was reciprocity," said Mrs. Charlie, ignoring the remark. "Almost as satisfactory as if you had slapped each other." And she answered in a dreamy voice: "Almost." Detroit Free Press. Giving Wood a Good Color. Many hard woods of superior color and grain may be greatly improved by treatment. The graining or marking of the wood is always a beautiful feature, and it can be greatly improved and ac centuated, if faint, by giving the entire piece one coat of raw oil, and then with a camel's hair brush going over the vari ous lines and veininsrs several times. Each coat increases the color. A slight coat of varnish will help tn keep the color. New York Tribune.
