A correspondent at Calgary writes as
follows: "On Wednesday night, Jan. 20,
tins part of Canada witnessed one of
those peculiar phenomena called a Chi
nook. The day was an ordinary winter
day clear, bright and frosty. -Abotrt 8
p. m., without a sign of warning, a gale
sprang apin an instant. Those inside
