Faints From Hunger
Dublin. Nov. 21. I. N. a) Annie
MacSwiney, who went on hunger strike
at the gates of Mount Joy prison five
days ago in protest against the im
prisonment of her sister. Mary, col
lapsed today, broken by starvation and
exposure. She fell in her tracks.
Friends made a bed for her near the
jail gate and covered her with rugs.
She had complained of great pains
In her head, which, she said, were get
ting worse and worse. Friendly women
with tender hands bound her head with
bandages which they moistened with
water.
Inside the prison Mary MacSwiney,
weak from 17 -days of self-imposed
starvation, tossed upon a hospital cot.
