Frederick Jennlng, president of the
Portland .' Furniture -- Manufacturing
company and the last of the old-time
furniture men of Portland, died Tues
day night as he sat on the porch of
his residence, No. 621 East Hoyt street
. Mr.-; Jenningt and his son, Fwfl W.
Jnnlnj Jr., had been to the Doern
becker plant rn the evening. A they
neared the house on their return, the
father, chaffed-his son about-the poor
way In which he cut a corner.
ATTACKED BT PARALYSIS
Thejr were laughing as they drove
opto the garage- Fred Jr. got out and
opened the garage door. -His father

I can't get up -
-Young penning carried his father to
the porch and set him down. The
paralysis crept tip. and in a moment
the ;oMerman died.
Mr.Jennlng was 73 years old. : He
was born near Toronto, in Canada,
a nd became cabinet maker -by trad e
H: entered business In!1 Portland -wHh
his - brother, Henry Jenning, nearly . 50
years ago, and for nearly 25 -years they
were partners-as Jenning Brothers,
with a plant' at. Front. and Morrison.

1 . When Henry Jenning's sons attained
mature years, Fred Jenning sold out
his Interest to Henry's son. Fred. He
retired for a time from the strenuous
pessaf business, occupying himself
, part of the time with a farm down the
river, but shortly afterwards returned
to the city and established the' Portland
Furniture Manufacturing company,
- He is survived by his wife, XJsette
penning, and a son, Fred W. There
also are a sister and a number of
nieces ad nephews. Funeral arrange
ments will be announced by Finley &
Son. -

Cross mother at Camp Kearney, a gov
erament hospital near San- Diego.
Through a reorganisation of the
work ; the hostess and Red Cross
mother service has been discontinued
and when Mrs. Nissen returns she will
take a new position with the city of
San Diego, involving- the same work
she did' there for the social hygiene
department of the government.' -"
