Ball Attended

A THKONO or people attended the
Community ball at the Armory last
evening, which was given to celebrate
Armistice day and also as the crown-
ing event of Music week. Many of the
dancers appeared in -fancy dress cos
tume, which, together with th re
splendent uniforms of the Royal Ro-
sartans, wno actea es ine iioor com
mittee, and the Elks band gave a bril
liant touch to the gathering;
An innovation was Introduced m the
grand march by the use of a huge
Vlctrola, through whoseopen door ap
peared the participants in the grand
march, giving a most artful effect.
Opera stars and famous composers,
dressed in excellent imitation of 'the
real personages led oft. Other Interest
ing features were the groups of native
dances which were given by represen
tatives of many foreign nations in their
picturesque costumes. , ,
The proceeds - will be devoted v to
Colonel Hammond's fund for the, bene
fit of members of the Oregon National

Walter Heller, whose marriage will be
a prominent .social event of the week.

to the soft gray and rose, of the hand
some grill room, made a scene of great

ladle of the club are planning to hold
a bazaar in December, the proceeds
