Cooperating- Protestant Evangelical churches of the city " will send dele gates. Features of the meeting wUl be the reports of the tea departments and the election of officers. The council was orcaniaed June 21 1.91!. At its' inception it had sevei departments. The" work has grow" until ten are now necessary to earn on the varied forms of activity under taken. . Nygren of Chicago, have gotten -well under way, and great interest is already being shown. The serv ices will continue next week every evening at 7:45 o'clock, except Monday and Sat urday. On Sunday morning at 10:30 the evangelist will preach in Swedish, his subject being, "From ' Attic to Cellar." Sunday afternoon at 3 :30 a mass meeting Iter. j' for men- at the Swedish tabernacle at 17th and Gltsar. streets will be addressed by the Rev. Mr. Nygren. His subject will be "Cats Will Come Back." . Mrs. Nygren will address a meeting for women at the Swedish Baptist church. 15th and Hoyt streets, at the sama hour. Her theme will be "Mother." "The Birth of a Nation" will be Mr. Nygren's subject Sunday evening at 7 130. All the services will be in English except Sunday morning and Thursday evening. LEADERS TO MEET On Monday, at the First Congrega tional church, groups of Congregation al leaders from the Congregational churches in this part of the state, will confer with the new state superintend ent, Dr. C. H. Harrison, and the Rev. Dr. H. H. Kelsey. from San Francisco. Brief addresses will be mude on "The Program of the Congregational Church in Oregon." The denomination set out this year, to raise $5,000,000. Unless strenuous1 work is put into the next two months and a half that big objec tive will not be realised, it is learned. Every Congregational church within a hundred miles is asked to send its pas tor, its Sunday school superintendent, one of its trustees and representatives of its women's organizations. Lunch will be -served at 12 :30 o'clock for all out of town delegates. The conference will begin at 10 o'clock, and continue through the afternoon. Sutherland, member of Sunnyside Congregational church, Portland, who entered the Moody Bible institute of Chicago this fall, is one of a group of students who hold open air meetings in the business section of Chicago, as part of their training in practical Christian work, according to a report issued bv the institute. Christian Although deprived for the time being of a regular church building the First Christian congregation is maintaining its work and worship in an encourag ing manner, waiting the completion of its new structure on the former site at Park and Columbia streets.
