At its session Wednesday afternoon Jt decided that the proposed amendments provid ing for a -5 per cent charge on all local improvements, to njeet "overhead" ex penses. Is not an emergency measure ; nor is the 'one amending the so-called Ziegler amendment: tp the charter, safe guarding the vacation of streets In areas adjacent to? the waterfront or railroad terminals. These were re- r ferred back to the charter revision committee: The proposed amendment permit-. . ting - the dock commission' - to lease -lands 'for periods of not more than SO years and at stated rate was not fully indorsed, and the commission is to be . invited to appear before the council for discussion of the measure. - Amendments in the provisions for tit police and firemen's pension funds is desired by these bodies-,- and these also are to be further discussed.
