BIG EVANGELISTIC
TO OPEN
The revival campaign at the East
Side Christian chureh. East 12th and
Taylor street, will be opened to
morrow by the Ross Evangelistic team.
At :45 sharp thaw will be a concert
by member of the Whitney Boy chorus, fol
lowed by the Bible school -class work. An
attendance of 350 has been set for the Bible
school. At - 11 o'clock the evaneelist. Rev.
.Floyd A. Bos. will preach, bis subject being
"The Church - Beautiful." At 7 o'clock there
will be an orchestra concert program by Rev.
Uoxs, violinist, .Mr. Minnie Sanasae "Ross,
telHvt. and Mia Dorothy Bow; trombonist.
At 7:80 will he held a lone service, to be
participated in Jy - a larffe chorus choir, led
ly the Kaics Bud at 8 o'cloek in the evening
there will be a sermon by the evangelist on
"Tlie Poiiularity of Jesns Christ.' '
. The Christian Kndanvor society will meet
at 7 o'clock, with Donald Nelson, president of
Multnomah county, C. K. Cnion. as leader, and
Harold W. Moore to sing.
Uev. Mr. Hast specializes in building up
churt-h organisation, with particular emphasis
i u Bible school work. The evangelist and
Mrs Kusa are both graduates of Eugene Bible
university and tlieir ministry and evangelhitie

Meetings Opened
At the special Tabernacle erected orf the
corner of East Ninth North and Hancock
streets, large signs announce the opening of the
Warren Collins party goMel, Portland campaign
inter denominational in character. Their
meetings throughout America are endorsed and
attoaded by pastors and Christians of all
churches genera r. Rev. John Fee, pastor of
the Christian and Missionary Alliance church,
under' which auspices the meeting is being
held. , slates that, city pastors ,and Christians
generally are cordially asked to attend. At
the Collins meeting. Rev Fee says the sick are
prayed for at all services as the last Chapter
of James in the Bible'3 commands, as this has
I "nothing to do with iie .faith cure fads of the
- dy." People from other cities are attending
"these meetings, a number of them being pres
errt Sunday, when scores of people testified
being healed in answer to prayer, of all sorts
of diseases. -
MINISTERS TO M EKT
The Portland Ministerial assieiatioii will
hold its regular monthly meeting at 10:45
a. m. Monday, in the 1". M. O. A. auditorium.
A program, on which the pending educational
bill will be given a prcminent place, has been
pianned for the occasion. Two laymen will
head the discussion, William K. Woodward
speaking for and William I. Wheelwright op
poing the biiL Dr. Edward Pence will pre
fent a resolution pertaining to the bill, and
the matter will be thrown open for general
discussion and vote. Every member of the
Ministerial, association ii urged to be pres
ent, and all pastor are invited to attend.
SEW TESTAMENT LESSONS
A course of Bible stiidy will be given by
the Very Rev. Dean Ramsey on the - modern
mission of the New Testament, commencing
Wednesday, October 11, at 10 15, in the
lwrish house of the pro-cathedral, 13th and
Clay streets, tinder the auspices of the Women's
guild.

Wednesday evening with Dr. W. T.

cussion of "What the Church Ought
to Do in University Centers.
President Weir will give an outline
of his plans for the immediate future
for Pacific universitv and the Rev.
W. W. Blair will speak on "The Con
gregational Education Foundation," an
organization whictr-Na helping along a
number of the Congregational colleges
throughout the country.
The Rev. Edward Constant of the High
land church will preach the sermon and aid
in the conduct of the communion service.
The indications are that .large delegations will
attend the conference frdm all the Congrega
tional churches of the state of Oregon. In
stead of devoting an entire day to the Women's
organization of the state, they will be, sand

Norwegi&n Lutheran
Convention Is Due
The lit Rev. I,. C. Fo?s of Seattle, and
Prof. O. J. Ordal, president of the Pacific
Lutheran college, Parkland,, Wash., will at
tend the circuit convention cf the Norwegian
Lutheran church to be held in Our Savior
church. The formal opening of be convention
is Tue-xiny evening, 8 o'clock, when communion
service will be held. Prof. Ordal will preach
the sermon and Rev. OTert Skilbred of Canby
will administer the 'sacrament Wednesday
evening is given over to the Women's Mis-sion-s-y
Federation, Mrs. M. Gnnderson of Silver
ton, president Papers for discussion will be
read by Mrs. C. H. Rtrgerson of Chinook,
Wash., and Mos. George Uenriksen of Silverton.

Rev. C. H. Nellor
The Union Congregational church, at
a business meeting this week voted to
extend a call to Rev. C. H. Nellor to
the pastorate of the church for the
year beginning October 1. Mr. Nellor
has filled the pulpit of this church
during the two Sundays just passed.
He has accepted the call, and will be
gin his duties in this church Sunday.
Mr. isellor comes to this church very
highly recommended. .

has voted the largest budget in its
history, the total being $12,500, and the

church Sundsy morning. Dr. Parker will
preach at night on the theme. "The House of
Rimmon." The quartet and choir will sing

Rally day at the Sunday school last Sunday
was a decided success. The attendance of the
school was 433, a 25 per cent sain over Rally
