Tangled Paternity
Case Is Nearing 1
Its Final Chapter
South Bend. Ind., Sept. 26. (I. N.
S.) The story has been told.
Testimony of two serhaps three
witnesses on rebuttal, the closing ar
guments and Judge Chester Oucomb
will have completed today the tangled
scarlet threats of the alleged love ro.
man'ce In which Mrs. Augueta Tiernan
accuses Harry Poulin, the college
campus haberdasher, with being the
father of her baby, born last Novem
ber. .Friday or Saturday Judge Ducontb
will render his decision. "Will chapter
one the story of clandestine love,
torn from the heart of the woman who
bared evert the most Intimate rela
tions of her home, outweight chapter
two the calm dispassionate recital of
the man who swears his innocence and
insists he never once over-stepped t the
bounds of proper conduct?
That will be the question to be de
cided by the judge as he reviews the
evidence.
' It was reported that two surprise
witnesses were to give testimony on
rebuttal today. Both are University
of Xotre Dame students and both are
to testify, it is said, to having seen
Mrs. Tiernan and Poulin on the
campus on a date Poulin swears he
was in church with his wife.
It is expected the rebuttal testimony
will not require more than an hour to
day. Each side will then have one hour
for floeing arguments. -
