A PRETTY wedding of special inter
est to Portland friends .was solem
nised in Astoria,- Monday, when Miss
Genevievd Mary Howell" became the
bride of Mr. Roy Macdonald Tate of
Portland. The ceremony took place at
the home of Mrs. M. J;SBadollet. one I
of Oregon's pioneers, the grandmother ;
of the "bride, and was attended only,
by relatives and a few Intimate friends.
The service was conducted by the Rev.
W. S. Gilbert, pastor of the First Pres
byterian church, of which the bride is
a member. Miss Josephine Sandle of
Portland was maid of honor and Rev.
EL Mowbray Tate, brother of the groom,
a senior at Whitman college, officiated
as best man. Betty Stromberg and
Billy Hutchinson, little cousins cf the
bride, met the guests at the door.
General and Mrs. P. J. 0NU of
Oklahoma City lett fo.- home Monday
after having spent about 10 days as
the guests of Mrs. O Ne 1 e mother, Mrs.
John Murphy. Durmg their short stay
they were delightfully entertained.
The Daughters of Isabella will enter

day evening. September 28, In the
Cathedral school hall, 17th and Davis
streets. The proceeds will be given to
the building fund of the monastery of
the Sisters of the Precious Blood.
