Maud Sluman, a brother and sister of

California. They report the automo
bile camps were all filled. After two
years' residence in California they have
returned to Oregon to live on their
prune ranch.
The Parent-Teacher circle will hold
Its -annual election of officers Friday
afternoon at school.
The Ladies' Aid will meet at the
parsonage Thursday.
The Rev, Mr. Smith will be with us
for another year. The -church has had

Mrs. A. M. Briggs. after a busy season,
has closed the park concession store, all
the boats have been put into their win
ter quarters. On the otner hand, great
activity is being manifested in the,
schqpl districts, for the schools are in
full ewing. -At Springbrook school
MissVLeila Stone is in charpeof the
sixth, seventh and eighth grades. At
the Jike Grove school flro Miss Pall
in charge of the intermediate pupils
and Miss R. Bodine teaching the pri
mary classes. More seats had to be
installed in the primary class owing
to the heavy registration.
Mr. and Mrs. Sydney 1"3. Vincent were
hosts Wednesday evening last at an
informal picnic and dancing party for
several of the University of Oregon
students. The late afternoon passed
in swimming ar.d canoeing. There fol
lowed a picnic supper on the verandah,
followed by dincing. Before the drive
home, the young people had a motor
boat and canoe ride. Present were

Great interest was manifested in the
wedding of Mrs. K. W. Goodale to Mr.
M. Van Buskirk recently. Mr. and
Mrs. Van Buskirk motored to Crater
lake for their honeymoon and are at
present -domiciled at their home near
Bryant station. They are contemplat
ing buying a farm near Corvallis.
Mrs. Louise Wells was hostess last
week at an informal luncheon with
Mrs. Marietta V Van Moter as the
guest of henor, who later in the after
noon enjoyed a motor boat view of the
lake.

cottage on the lake near Lake Grove

Sunday morning, returning late that
night, for a picnic in the mountains
near Timber. They report a delight
ful drive and an all round good time.

Funeral services for Paul Krueger,
son of Mrs. John Woldaw, who died
at the family home on Clackamas
Heights, were held from the Lutheran
church,. Oregon City, Saturday after
noon. Burial was in Mountain View
cemetery. He is survived by his
mother, three sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Amanda Decatur spent Friday
in Portland.

day for his farm near Olympia, in
the section which is terrorized by the
O'Hara family tragedy. Mrs. Hooker
has been running the farm all sum
mer and Hooker is employed with
the Manley Auto company. Mrs.. Hook
er will come to Portland until the
scare is over.
F. ,W. Brown who has been in Cal
ifornia the past several months has
returned to Holgate and he and two
sons will occupy their home.

dislocated her right elbow when she

Mrs. Raymond MacCulloch returned
last week from Boise, where she spent
three delightful weeks visiting rela
tives. Mr, MacCulloch is on a business
trip at Chicago.
Miss Freda Runes completed her
work at the East Portland library Sat
urday and will leave for the University
of Oregon in a few weeks.
Mabel M. Christensen came from Se
attel a week ago to live with her

birthday with a picnic at Laurelhurst
park Tuesday afternoon. The, girls

Hutchisons are leaving Portland for
their old home. In Boston, where they
will join their " daughter Marion. Mr.
Thorn has sent for his family in Ed
monton, Alberta. He s is having the
house remodeled and refurnished in
preparation for arrival.
Esther McMann has fully recovered
from the fall she had two weeks ago,
in which she badly jarred her back.
Her left ankle was also sprained.

Building construction in the Lents
district is Btill on the boom. Several
weeks ago it was announced that the
Lents Masons would erect a new build
ing, where the Duke building now
stands. Bids have been opened for
a new postoffice at Lents. Mrs. Annie
S. Lent of Lents matle by far the
best bide. The new location of the post
office is on the grounds now occupied
by the Lents Real Estate company, at
No. 9218 Woodstock avenue.
The postoffice will be built of rein
forced concrete and will have a vitri
fied brick front, making it one of the
best buildings tn Lents.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Austin of Lents have
sold their home at No. 9524 58th avenue
and are now located at No. 9516 60th
avenue.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Summers and fam
ily of No. 10328 60th avenue have re
turned home from the hopyards. , The
hops had to be picked so clean that
little was made by pickers.
Mrs. O. A. Linwood of Chehalis,
Wash., who has been visiting at the
