The matter was given a hearing before' the board Thursday. Complaint had been made to the board that Mrs. Pabfik secured her po sition by passing the civil service ex amination under a sworn - statement that she was single, although she was married at the time ; and ' that she is keeping single women on the eligible list from, appointment to telephone work." Mrs. Pablik ' frankly admitted the charges. She said that general sentiment against employment of mar ried women at the time she took the examination had prompted her to use her maiden name, and that all herrref erences were to that name and would not have been available had she used her married name. - She is conceded to be a most valu able city employe, but Commissioners Mason and Wells took the position that If she tit keeping eligible single women out of appointment she must either re sign or be removed. The final decision is to be left to Commissioner Logan at the next meeting, as he was absent Thursday. - ' The Standard of Purity - dp isa For Matchless Ahead of Any Other Tea "The Sealed Packet Robt. & H.
