Selling prices are advanced la, a dozen to 36c for selects by the Poo try association, but private aales are He higher than 35c as yet- i Owing to the scarcity of fresh offerings the trade Is scrambling for- fresh goods and vari ous bids tot current receipts are shown at 28 4929c a dozen for Portland delivery. Storage eggs continue to sell well' around 80e a dozen with Quality extremely good. More care has been taken by the trade in potting first class stock in storage than for many years past. Keg trad throughout the country is much more favorable with continued Mberal with drawals from storace because of the very serious decrease in fresh offerings. Strength in the Eastern trade is attributed to he very hot weather with the resulting decrease in quality offerings. . : A further advance, of lc a dozen is an nounced by the Poultry association for Monday morning at 87e for selects and browns, 3oc for firsts and 31c for pullets. ! Those desiring special information regarding any market should? write the Commerical Edi tor. Oregon Journal, enclosing stamp for re Plff. Cotton Mil eat market was reactionary for the closing day of the wees: with both domestic and foreign markets inclined to dip. There appeared to be profit taking by option traders and this kept the domestic market down. Considerable wheat is moving from Atlantic and Gulf ports to Europe, bnt there continues a lack of new business in this territory. This is due to the fast that relatively higher prices are shown here than elsewhere. Europe is unwilling to pay the prices demanded by the Pacific Northwest, because it can, pur chase cheaper elsewhere and it ia very short of money. ' Wheat of similar Quality to our white club or -western white is being deliv ered for Eastern shipment at $1 per bushel, while no purchases are available hers below $1.09 Europe is not offering above $1.05 pee bushel for wheat f. o. b.. which means not above $1.03 track basis Portland. This would be the full worth of wheat for pc ent sale her. and includes the handling charges snd profits that exporters must secure. Because of the fact that exporters here sold wheat to Europe come time ago for September delivery st higher prices, and they are short in their deliveries, they are actually offering 4 c a bushel more for Trheat today than they can possibly tell at to Europe. Flour trade continues quiet for both do mestic and foreign account. Broomhall cabled: . All I'nited Kingdom Wheat situation ap pears somewhat firmer with buyers showing more confidence. There has been some im provement in the demand and speculative in terests have been inclined to take hold in a fair way arouud present levels. Continental buyers are also displaying more interest Argentine Country offerings are not press ing. Weather continues clear and generally cool, being favorable for the conditioning of the new corn. There was a scattered business in wheat for export yesterday and while it is difficult to confirm actual details, many are inclined to believe that at least half to three Quarters million bushels .f not more wss worked. There was little feature to the wheat trade today and price changes were of little consequence. There was a setback at the start on local selling based on the. bearish government crop report. Com mission houses with seaboard connections bought on the dip and caused a little rally, but Northwest selling kept the undertone easy. The support was present oa every dip. Export demand was inactive, according to Seaboard advices. Winnipeg advices indicate that the Canadian railroads will run 100 car trains in the West to rush wheat so terminals, owing to the prospects of a strike by railway em ployes.
